Celebrating administrative professionals
Over the years, Administrative Professionals Week has become one of the largest workplace observances. The week is celebrated worldwide through various events and individual activities recognizing support staff. In this country, the day is often celebrated by giving one's assistant gifts such as flowers, candy, or lunch. This year, our Chamber has chosen to recognize the hard work of secretaries, administrative assistants, and other office professionals for their growing and diverse contributions to the workplace by holding a special luncheon. Sponsored by Iberia Bank, this event will feature a delicious lunch, fabulous door prizes and a fashion show of Spring styles from Chamber members Belk, Columbia Street Mercantile and Blossom Girl, worn by models from Creating U. Motivational speaker Bruce S. Wilkinson will also present a humorous, enthusiastic and informative presentation on "Balancing Life, Work, Family and Friends" that will not be forgotten! Bruce has presented in all 50 states, delivering keynotes and training programs to clients such as Coca Cola, Office Depot, Burger King, ExxonMobil, LSU, the IRS and four of his all-time favorites - Miller Brewing, Anheuser-Busch, Samuel Adams & Jack Daniel's. Come along or simply send your support staff for a motivating and fun lunch break on Tuesday. We planned this luncheon the day before Administrative Professional's Day to enable you to also treat your staffers to lunch at a member restaurant the following day. Tuesday, April 24 11:30 am - 1:00 pm Beau Chene Country Club 602 N. Beau Chene Drive, Mandeville

Two international trips planned for this Fall!
Last year's international trade mission to Tuscany was so well-received that we will be offering two trips this fall - one to Ireland in September and another to the Amalfi Coast of Italy in October.
For less than $3,000 per person, the 10-day package to Ireland (departing on September 3) includes roundtrip airfare from New Orleans, first-class hotel accommodations, daily breakfasts and several dinners. Travelers will visit Dublin, Killarney, and Limerick with day excursions to Blarney Castle, the Ring of Kerry and the Cliffs of Moher. For those interested in the business aspects of the trip, a visit to the Waterford Crystal factory and a whiskey factory will be included. Optional tours such as a visit to the Guinness Storehouse, a medieval banquet and an Irish cooking lesson are also available.
Departing on October 29, the 9-day package to the Amalfi Coast, for roughly $2,700, also includes roundtrip airfare from New Orleans, first-class hotel accommodations in Sorrento and day trips to Ravello, Pompeii and Naples. Daily breakfasts and several dinners are also included. Some optional tours are available, including a harbor cruise to Capri, a cooking tour in the countryside and a visit to a mozzarella cheese factory. It also offers an optional 2-night Rome extension.
Chamber membership is not required and we invite everyone interested to consider joining us on one (or both!) of these spectacular Chamber-sponsored journeys. For more info, contact Michelle Biggs at michelle@sttammanychamber.org for details.
