Greetings!
Shippensburg University is fortunate to have alumni who not only appreciate the university for what it did for them, but for the important role Shippensburg plays in our Commonwealth, nation and world.
As you know, the university has faced successive years of budget cuts, including an 18 percent cut for the current academic year. Those cuts will be compounded if a 20 percent cut proposed for the 2012-13 year is approved. That cut would mean a loss of nearly $8 million, a significant one-year cut that will, unfortunately, dramatically affect the university's operation.
While the budget is still in the early stages of discussion, legislators are already hearing from their constituents about the importance of higher education and especially the role the 14 members of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education has in the economic, social and cultural health of Pennsylvania. Please read on if you want to help.
We deeply appreciate your continued support for Ship and appreciate the time you will take to let your legislators know how much you value education. With your support, Ship will be able to continue its 141-year tradition of providing an education of excellence.
