One of the first steps in the effort to expand Packard Children's Hospital and rebuild Stanford Hospital includes utility work and surface improvements on Welch Road. The Welch Road Utility Project includes: replacing utility services and information technology infrastructure along Welch and Quarry Roads to serve the new hospital facilities once they are built; the widening of Welch Road; replacement of sidewalks, curbs and gutters; planting of new street trees and installation of planted medians and street lighting.
Note: Access to the Emergency Room will be maintained at all times.
This week's activities:
Weekend work (8/26-8/28): day shift: 7 am- 4 pm; night work: 8 pm-5 am
Street tree removal planned 8/27; night utility work planned along Quarry and Welch Rd 8/27. This work will require traffic control measures. Access to the Emergency Room will be maintained at all times.
Weekday work (8/29-9/2): 7 am-4 pm
Planned activities include continued site mobilization, survey work and staking along Quarry Rd (at Welch), fence installation at Pasteur triangle for contractor use; Quarry and Welch Road tree preparation and pruning for boxing and storage.; begin installation of global and regional construction signage across campus (will occur over the next two weeks).
Night work: (8/29-9/2): 8 pm-5 am
Preparatory utility-related trenching work will occur on Welch Rd and Quarry Rd. This will require some traffic control measures. Please be cautious of trench plates in the street during this time. Access to the Emergency Room will be maintained at all times.
What to expect next weekend (9/2-9/4): 7 am-4 pm
