In partnership with SUS, The Great Octave Foundation has launched an Indiegogo campaign to fund an SUS MediSounds
Meditation program, a proven practice that uses the sound of voice to reduce stress. With the support of donations, the MediSounds process will be taught to SUS staff who will in turn teach the sound meditation to veterans and other individuals served by SUS who have experienced trauma in their lives. A total of $26,000 in donations is needed to fund the program, which will encourage self-respect and foster resilience among these individuals. We hope you will contribute to support the launch of the program. Donate Now
Training Institute Graduation
Ten SUS staff will be awarded a Certificate of Excellence on June 24th from The Training Institute at the conclusion of a six-month intensive training pilot program. The program promotes best practices for person-centered and person-driven supports to front line supervisors who work with individuals with intellectual/ developmental disabilities. A collaborative of SUS, UCP of NYC, and HeartShare, the program offers sessions on Code of Ethics, core competencies, accountability, leadership, and quality outcomes, and encourages program graduates to implement what they learn in their programs. Based on feedback from graduates and trainers who found the program valuable, the program will be expanded to other staff at SUS and the other agencies.
