Protecting Wildlife
pollution 2

Picking up other's people trash along the highway really wasn't my idea of fun.  The first time I did it I found it to be a very humbling experience.  Now I look back after every clean-up and I'm proud.  It feels great to be a part of something so much bigger than myself.  It's not just about having the roads look good.  It's about the animals.  Trash affects more wildlife than just the raccoons and opossums you see on the roadside.  Soda bottles attract flies which in turn attract salamanders and other small creatures that climb in to get the tasty bugs but then die before they can get out.  Rodents are attracted to the trash which in turn lures hawks and owls which then get hit by cars while on the side of the road.  Roadside issues are one thing but the trash doesn't stay in one place.  It travels with the wind and the rain and ends up in our waterways.  Please consider taking a couple hours out of your day to come help us clean-up a small section of highway and do our part to protect wildlife.  Contact me at kim@rescueexotics.org if you are available to help on July 21st at 9:00 am.
