Congratulations to Alesia Archibald-Richardson from the SISD Early Childhood Department for being nominated during the month of November for SISD Service Strong recognition. She was nominated by Rosanna Keller, and her nomination reads: "Alesia has been staying late on Monday nights to assist Licensed Child Care Providers in obtaining a STAR Rating. Alesia has been in this role for a little over a year now and has learned so much and has dedicated herself to these providers! Way to go, Alesia, for going above and beyond!!!"

Donations Collected for Giving Tree Program
The RESC building once again participated in the Giving Tree Program through the Underground Railroad. Staff provided unwrapped gifts for the families at URR so women can "shop" for their children. Thanks to all employees at the RESC for their generosity in making the holidays a bit merrier for those families in need.
Transitions Center Students Spread Holiday Cheer
A group of carollers from the Transitions Center stopped by a few of the SISD buildings on Friday, Dec. 16 to spread the spirit of the season. The group sang holiday songs and brought smiles to the faces of staff.
Head Start Children Receive New Shoes from the Shoes That Fit Program
Preschoolers at Head Start's Claytor and Brunkow locations were surprised with new pairs of shoes last week. The shoes were donated as a part of the 2016 Shoes That Fit project that is sponsored by Nexteer Automotive, Covenant HealthCare and the Breakfast of Champions Men's Club. More than 300 pairs of shoes were purchased for preschoolers in Buena Vista. Preschoolers at Claytor received theirs on Wednesday, Dec. 14, while those at Brunkow received theirs on Thursday, Dec. 15. The Saginaw News provided coverage of the event, which may be found here.
All Music is Power Visits Millet Learning Center
All Music is Power performed for Millet Learning Center students and staff on Monday, Dec. 20. The group even gave students an opportunity to play with some of the instruments. A great time was had by all.
SISD Buildings Closed for the Holidays
All Saginaw ISD buildings will be closed for the holidays from Friday, Dec. 23 through Monday, Jan. 2. District buildings will re-open for business on Tuesday, Jan. 3. We wish everyone a safe and joyful holiday season.
