21st Annual Turnaround Achievement Awards Program Recognizes 34 Students
Saginaw ISD is pleased to announce that 34 students from Saginaw County were honored at this year's Turnaround Achievement Awards Program on May 15. This is the 21st year that the program has taken place and middle school and high school students from each of the 12 school districts in Saginaw County were recognized for demonstrating the most effort, perseverance and commitment in turning their life around. Congratulations to all students on this notable achievement. ABC12 News anchor/reporter, Terry Camp, once again emceed the event and coverage from the morning may be found here.
May 2017 SISD Board of Education Honorees
SISD's Board of Education honored multiple people at its meeting on May 10. First to be recognized were Transitions Center teachers Kristi Tabacsko and Dan Palmer. Kristi and Dan were honored at the meeting due to their recent recognition as STAR teachers by SVSU's College of Education during their April 26 External Advisory Committee meeting.
Also recognized at the May meeting was Nouvel Catholic Central High School sophomore, Alexandria "Lexie" Schultz. Lexie was awarded Best of Show at this year's Saginaw County Art Exhibit, which was held at the Fashion Square Mall. Her art was purchased by SISD and will soon be seen in the hallways of the SISD administrative offices.
Consumers Energy Donation to Great Start Collaborative
At the May 10 SISD Board of Education meeting, Kelley Peatross, Community Affairs Area Manager at Consumers Energy, presented the board with a check for the Great Start Collaborative program in the amount of $1,540. Funds from the check have been used for the purchase of 1,000 flip charts, which are being placed in Math in the Mail kits and also distributed to schools and child care centers throughout Saginaw County. Thanks to Consumers Energy for their generous donation!
SISD to Host School Law Workshop
Saginaw ISD is hosting a one-day workshop to bring educators and district leaders up-to-date on new legislative requirements and legal changes to Zero Tolerance and Seclusion & Restraint laws. The workshop will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 20 at the Transitions PD Center. Please view  this flyer  for more information on the workshop including information on how to register.
