Dear Saint Jeanne's Families,
I hope you had a beautiful Thanksgiving holiday and had the opportunity to celebrate and share your many blessings with loved ones. Reflecting upon the gratitude that comes to mind during the season, we are so thankful for our Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School community. We are so blessed!
This past month has been a whirl-wind indeed!...and the time is passing so quickly. November was filled with many activities including our All Saints Day Mass and "little saint procession", Staff Safety training, the SJDL High School informational meetings and Parish visits, the Fall Play "Arabian Nights", Veterans Day Prayer Service, Basketball Tryouts, Feast of Child Mary Celebration and our Thanksgiving vacation!
Those of you who were present at our Child Mary Celebration would most likely agree that we have an abundance of God's greatest gifts right here in this very place. The eighth grade students led the entire student body in the procession with the Child Mary Statue, flags from the 27 countries with Company of Mary Schools, baskets of flowers, and candles carried by our little ones. After the procession and call to worship, we celebrated our Mass which was led by Father Tom. Sister Ernestine explained the history and importance of this traditional custom in our schools world-wide. The celebration was heartfelt in every sense of the word. The students participated with great reverence, and a beautiful faith-filled spirit. At the conclusion of the liturgy, we celebrated the Sisters 90th year anniversary in the United States as we invited the Sisters forward to be acknowledged for this amazing accomplishment especially as we build the first Company of Mary High School in the United States! All of the students wrote beautiful cards and letters in thanksgiving for the Sisters. Honestly parents, this is what sets us apart from any other school in the area. What a gift!
Yesterday, we had an amazing opportunity to gather in prayer for our Advent Confessions for the first time. Mr. Nguyen, our Campus Minister, offered a beautiful introduction to the season of Advent, and the meaning of confessions as preparation for Christmas.
As you know, Advent is a period of preparation, extending over four Sundays, before
Christmas
. The word Advent comes from the Latin advenio, "to come to," and thus refers to the coming of Christ. The 4 week season focuses on hope, love, joy, and peace.
We ask that parents partner with their children in this time of preparation by reflection, prayer, and in acts of kindness.
Report Cards for grades PS - 8th grades should be sent home today. Students in grades PS - kindergarten should receive a paper copy, while students in grades one through eight will be emailed home via Renweb.
In closing, we thank you parents for your joy-filled partnership in the formation of your children.
In the Company of Mary Our Lady,
Mrs. K Mora Principal
