News From the Principal

Dear Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School Families,

We have lots to celebrate this Advent Season at Saint Jeanne's!  As, you have seen from the End of the Year Report from our Capital Campaign Committee and Marketing Team, so much has been accomplished in preparation of the opening of Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic High School, as well as raising an awareness for the support of our stoplight at Avenida Lestonnac and Butterfield Stage Road!  We are proud of all of these accomplishments and look forward to an amazing support toward reaching our goals for 2018!

As always, Saint Jeanne's is filled with excitement and activity!  We recently began the second trimester, issued first trimester report cards, celebrated students' achievements with the awards ceremony, welcomed students to our Advent Confessions with 6 local priests, marketed the school at a Temecula Chamber event, participated in the Annual Temecula Light Parade, and accompanied middle school students serving at Saint Martha's!  We even issued a surprise day off due to bad air quality, and revamped our lunch schedule due to turning off our gas connection. (Thank goodness for "Remind." App)  We look forward to this next week when have the privilege to celebrate the birth of Christ as we present the "Feast of Light" Tree Lighting, Christmas Showcase Recital, and the Annual Christmas Play!

We are excited to announce that once again, Saint Jeanne's won first place in the Religious Category for our beautiful float(s).  Please take a look at some of the photos as well as the parade video clip to see our beautiful Nativity Float and Anniversary Cake Float!  This year's theme was Temecula's celebration of 25 years as a city....and Saint Jeanne's just happens to have that in common as we celebrate our 25th Anniversary as a Catholic School Community!  We are most grateful to Alyssa Wichterman and Maria Rawling for coordinating and organizing the float details as well as Mr. Vega, Rosie Andrews, Mr. Wichterman, Mr. Rawling, Amy Minniear, Mr. Merrill and all other volunteers who helped us create such a beautiful representation of our school community!  We had such a great time and it truly was such a school bonding experience.

Thank you once again to Mrs. Ruelas for conducting amazing parent workshops last month!  We are blessed to have such a wonderful resource at our school.  We were so thrilled to see you all there!  It really does take a village, and Saint Jeanne's is so supportive of one another as we raise our future leaders together!

The school was very happy to welcome visitor Katie McKnight, a nationally renowned speaker in the field of education this week!  Katie conducted our faculty professional development workshop this summer.  She was able to come back and visit the classrooms to give teachers feedback with instructional strategies etc.  She commented on how adorable and respectful our students were.  She was also very complimentary of our teaching staff as well as the overall school climate/environment.  We look forward to working with her in the future as Saint Jeanne's continues to make strides to continually improve its programs.

We can't wait to see you at our Annual Christmas Program as we celebrate the "Reason for the Season"...with hope, joy, love, and Christ's peace.

Advent Blessings,

Mrs. K Mora    Principal

SJDLS Magis Ministry
Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School
Magis Ministry

Magis (pronounced "màh-gis") is a Latin word that means "more" or "better". It is related to ad majorem Dei gloriam, a Latin phrase meaning "for the greater glory of God." Magis refers to the philosophy of doing more, for Christ, and therefore doing more for others. It is an expression of an aspiration and inspiration.

Have you had the opportunity to pull from the giving tree in front of your child's classroom?

This year,  we are partnering with Barnes and Noble for their Annual Christmas Book Drive. Barnes and Noble is working with the organization," Reach out and Read" which is a local chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Doctors "prescribe reading" at well children visits, give books to children in need, and gives advice to parents about the importance of reading aloud. Books will be donated directly to the Temecula area.

The gift cards are for local families in need.

Thank you to Shanna Merrill for organizing this Advent Service Opportunity of giving!
