Special Guest for
Tell Us Our Story
We look forward to a visit from Jennifer Green, executive director of Mommy and Me, this Sunday at Saint Luke's. She will be giving a Moment for Mission during "Tell Us Our Story" at both worship services, and also be available to talk about ways we can help with the important work Mommy and Me does.

Dunwoody High School (DHS)
Reserved Parking
Just a friendly reminder that school started back on Monday, August 7 and the Saint Luke's lower Manhasset lot is reserved for DHS students. Saint Luke's has sold all 80 spaces to DHS students for the coming school year. The students have the use of that particular lot Monday through Friday, 8am until 5pm and have assigned numbered parking spaces. Please be aware than many of these students are taking classes at GA State College, Dunwoody Campus or may have work internships through some of the specialized academies offered at Dunwoody High School. Therefore, the students' schedules are varied and some numbered spaces will appear empty on various times during the week. Thank you, in advance, for parking in the non-numbered spaces located in the upper Manhasset lot or in the lot off of Mt. Vernon.

Sunday, August 20
Celebration of the New Campus for Refugee Family Literacy Services ("Mommy and Me")
Join us on Sunday, August 20 from 4pm to 6:30pm for a community celebration of the amazing work God has done, with Saint Luke's help, to give compassionate support to resettling refugee families. The celebration will take place at the Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church (5140 Memorial Drive, 1 mile east of I-285), where this summer Saint Luke's has played a leading role in renovating the preschool building so that it can serve as the second site of the "Mommy and Me" program.

As a result of our initiative and work, and the support of several other churches, the new school will open on schedule this month! The new campus will enable over 150 refugee women and children to learn the language and get much needed support as they acclimate to a new country and culture, having fled trauma and war.  Workers, teachers, and student mothers and children will all be in attendance, enjoying fun food and games together!

Children's Wax Museum:
Bible Timeline Edition!
This year our ever-popular Children's Wax Museum will serve as the "entry exhibit" to the brand-new Saint Luke's Bible Timeline! Each child who participates will give a "sneak peek" of a real person who was an important part of God's great story in the Old Testament. It's easy to participate: just sign up for a part in the main lobby, go home and learn a few key facts about what that person did to help God, then come on August 27 ready to "say your piece"! It can be one sentence or it can be three...just a brief "blurb" is fine. You'll say it to each group that stops to see you, so don't make it too long! A selection of costumes will be provided if you need one - you'll get an email about that once you have signed up for a role. Please email cathomas@slpres.org if you have any questions.

Care for a REAL
Scottish Heritage experience?
We are currently planning to host a trip to Scotland next spring from April 29 to May 7, 2018. We are looking for roughly 25 people to join us as we explore this exciting country and our Presbyterian roots (our tour guide is an ordained minister in the Church of Scotland!). Some of you may recall we visited Scotland a few years ago and had such a wonderful time we are going back! Please contact Phil Brown to add your name to the list and/or if you have any questions about the trip: philbrown@slpres.org.

Help Local Students,
Give Tools for School with CAC!
Together we can empower students throughout our community! The Community Assistance Center (CAC) provides free school supplies to local kids most in need. Families that struggle financially often must send their child to school without the necessary tools to learn. Studies show that when kids have their own school supplies, classroom behavior and grades improve, self-esteem strengthens, and kids develop better attitudes toward school and learning. CAC makes it easy to donate: CAC Tools for School;  just $35 provides one new backpack with supplies (retail cost $50 each)!
