"Speak Words of Life!"
Sunday Sermon

Our fall sermon series, "Choose Life: A Fresh Look at the Ten Commandments" continues this Sunday with Pastor Andy's message on the Ninth Commandment, "You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor." (Ex. 20:16). Our words matter. Lies hurt people. Reckless words can pierce the soul of another person made in the image of God while encouraging words can bring life to one who is weary. Jesus longs for his followers to speak words of life to those around us. Join us this Sunday as Pastor Andy shares the Sermon on the Mouth!

Praying Our Discoveries
In the Time of Transition

The Transition Team has been selected and will begin work in the next couple of weeks. Their task is procedural. It will entail gathering information, including some research, with an end goal of the completion of a congregational self-study. The document created will go to the Call Committee for their use in searching for a new Senior Leader. Let us give thanks for this team and pray for their health and work: Phil Gomez, Celeste Seibert, Jenny Hammond, Jeanette Drew, and Robert Whitmarsh.
Let us pray for the Call Committee to be selected after the first of the year. That God's Holy Spirit will prepare the way during the time of soliciting names and for those who will say "yes" to serving.
Let us pray for the new Director of Worship and Arts and the Search Committee : Heather Salter, Kim Niebuhr, Jan Selby, Rob Pattison, Shahien Shankar, Donna Noonan, and Pastor Andy Smith.
Let us pray for Interim Pastor Tim Philips and those who share their stories with him: that people will be heard and understood.
In the transition, staff members, ministry leaders, and council members will also be facing many challenges and decisions. We give thanks for the ministry of Angie Kavert in our midst and pray for her new chapter. We continue to pray for health and for positive energy; for wisdom and discernment, that we may embrace the differences among us as a gift that enables us to grow in faith and thrive as a community called by God.
You are invited to gather with us for a time of prayer on Sunday, September 30th at 11:30 am following the Interim Forum in the Fellowship Hall.
