Summer Uniform, End of 3rd Quarter, Diocesan Band Festival
Saint Michael's Minutes
Teaching Children their value as Children of God
Principal's Notes
Dear parents and families,

"'I am with you always, to the close of the age.' These words of Jesus assure us that in proclaiming and living the Gospel of charity we are not alone. Once again, during this Lent, he invites us to return to the Father, who is waiting for us with open arms to transform us into living and effective signs of his merciful love" - Pope John Paul II

Spring is here: the days are longer which means more sun, more fun, and warmer weather! We will therefore be moving to our summer uniforms on Monday, April 3.

Also, beginning on Monday, we will be switching our recess and lunch schedules. K-3 will have recess at 11:20 followed by lunch at 11:45. 4-8 will have recess at 11:45 and lunch at 12:05. This should help with some of the stomach aches from playing too soon after eating, and help the students work up an appetite!

If you would like to attend a concert of the most talented musicians the Diocese has to offer including many of our own Saint Michael Celtics, then the Diocesan Band Festival is where you want to be! It will be this Saturday, April 1 at 10:00 AM at Ireton High School.

The third quarter ends on Friday, April 7. If you have any questions about your child's grades please email their teacher to have any questions answered before the end of the quarter. Report cards will come home Wednesday, April 12.

If you would like to attend a Washington National's Game with Saint Michaels School, please return the ticket order form to the school tomorrow. Go Nats!

The Capital Club trip to the Newseum will be rescheduled due to a scheduling conflict with the Confirmation retreat.

Mark Forrest, an international tenor, will be leading an evening of Eucharistic devotion and music on Sunday, April 2nd, at 7:30 PM in the church. This is a free event and all are invited to attend!

Please save the date for our Annual Auction on May 6!

God bless,

Daniel Cinalli
Principal
Our 1st and 5th graders have already begun some of the new STREAM activities last week. These lessons are meant to expose the students to new and exciting ways of problem solving and thinking about science, technology, religion, engineering, arts, and math. Our 1st graders created a substance and discussed if it was a solid or liquid, while our 5th graders studied Bernoulli's Principle while trying to make a ping pong ball levitate in the air. Great job Mrs. Socarras and Mrs. Kelling!
Club Moderators Wanted!

In an effort to expand our club offerings, we are looking for a Chess Club moderator, as well as a running club moderator. The duties would be holding a session every week or every other week, taking roll, ensuring safe pickup, and having fun with the students! What a wonderful way to spend time with your children, their friends, and serve the school!

If you are interested or have another club you would be willing to offer and moderate, please send Mr. Cinalli an email.

Exercise, along with good nutrition and quality sleep, plays an important role in a healthy lifestyle.  The following are some of the many benefits in being physically active:

* builds strong muscles and bones

* maintains weight control

* decreases risk of type 2 diabetes

* promotes better sleep

* provides a better outlook on life

Physically active kids also are more likely to be more alert and academically motivated and successful.
