Dear St. John Paul II Families,
A few years ago, I was asked, "What is my favorite Liturgical season?" And, immediately and without a doubt, I answered, "Lent!” As I sat among many other Catholic School educators, I was surprised to find that I was in the minority, which caused me to pause and reflect on why I chose the season of Lent.
To me personally, the answer became abundantly clear that Lent is the ONE season that allows me the opportunity to be closest to the Lord: suffering with him, being one with him on the cross, and then standing alongside awaiting the resurrection. I began to realize that Lent is most likely not a season I would have chosen during another time in my life.
As we begin the season of Lent tomorrow, through the years, I have learned that these 40 days leading to Easter offer me the greatest growth as a Catholic, wife, mother, and servant leader. I hope and pray that you and your family take time to reflect on how you want to enter into this Lenten season. It can be life changing if you allow it to be! Remember, as parents, YOU are your child's first teachers of our Faith. Your sons and daughters will learn from you; they will follow your example however you choose to sacrifice, whether it be by fasting, giving up ice cream, doing something more, finding more time for daily prayer, or attending stations every Friday. Whatever you do, I pray you grow closer to Him.
Have a wonderful week,

Ambassador Family Volunteers Needed!
- It is that time of year again…new students are registering for the 2017-2018 school year and we need YOUR help welcoming these new families!
- Through the StJPII Ambassador Program, new families are assigned an ambassador family to help make their transition into our community easier and friendlier. Ambassadors are current parents who volunteer to welcome a new family and give them someone to call for answers to many of their questions.
- We try to match families who have children that are the same gender, in the same grade and may live close to one another. Our goal is to ensure that each new student has at least one familiar face to greet them on the first day of school.
- We need current families with new siblings starting in Pre-K and K. We also need volunteers for ALL grade levels and bilingual ambassador families too. Please consider sharing your love of StJPII by becoming an ambassador. Duties are minimal and can be done on your own time.
- Sign up on our school’s website by completing the online form.

Carpool Reminders
Afternoons - Elementary afternoon carpool flows from 3:15-3:30. Middle School cars should move forward at 3:30 OR after the Elementary line ends, (whichever is later). If you are late and miss your pick-up window of time, then join at the end of the line. Please do not cut in the line.
Walkers - Kindly drive away immediately after your student(s) reach(es) your vehicle to open space and keep the curbs clear.
Rainy Days - Our carpool line curves behind the Greek Church on Tracewood Park Drive. When the line gets long, do not cut; join at the end of the line. On mornings when it's raining, join the line. Please resist parking and walking your children to the door, which causes added traffic delays.
Please obey traffic laws. Do not park in "no parking" zones. Cross the street at cross-walks. StJPII vehicles should not block traffic. Please keep driveways and cross-streets passable...this includes near Temple Sinai.
