Meet Raven
Raven was an owner surrender to the shelter when a breeder was given an ultimatum: surrender the dog who was escaping or face the possibility of losing all of her animals. She chose to surrender Raven to the shelter. He was intact, very thin to the point of emaciation almost at 85lbs., but fortunately heartworm negative. There weren’t many options for Raven and time was running out, so SWS agreed to bring him in

In Memory of Koda
It is with heavy hearts that we share the sudden and unexpected passing of Koda. He
came to us after being chained for the first five years of his life. It took about as many more for him to learn that he could really trust us and to stop trembling at the mere sight of a child. Eventually he grew into a much beloved “Koda-bear” for our volunteers and educated a lot of guests about the negative impact chains have on dogs.

Girl Scouts raise $500 for wolves
Girl Scout Troop 603 donated $500 of the money made from their cookie sales. That money will feed about 13 wolves for one month. We are grateful to Troop 603 for selecting Shy Wolf Sanctuary to support, and the wolves gave them plenty of thank you kisses. Great job girls!

Psychology student from Germany volunteers during summer vacation in U.S.
An internet search for wolves led Lea to Shy Wolf Sanctuary, Education and Experience Center. Eager to learn about the relationship between humans and wolves, she discovered why wolves are the most misunderstood animals.
