As per government data, 206,708 Indian students are studying in the USA out of the 553,440 Indian students studying abroad, the highest for any country. Canada is second in the list with an estimated 100,000 students while Australia is third with 63,283 students.

China
A new law which took effect in September 2017 is generating a wave of investor interest in China's higher education sector. The law, enacted by China's Standing Committee of the National People's Congress last November, allows universities and high-schools establish themselves as for-profits for the first time.

The Higher Education Ministry (MOHE) described Budget 2018 tabled by Prime Minister, Najib Razak as an "upwards soaring" budget, after it received a 13.15% increase in funding for next year. The Higher Education Ministry is grateful for the scholarship provision of RM900 million through the MyBrain15 programme which will benefit 10,600 undergraduates and doctoral students.
