Clayes House
Issue No.11December 1, 2013

Dear Friend,

Many thanks to the over 40 of you who

volunteered for our clean-up project at the Clayes

House yesterday!  We were awed and humbled by the incredible outpouring of community support -- and getting so much work done in just three hours.  As Margaret Mead said, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."

We received lovely coverage from the Metrowest Daily News -- see the article here.

I've also posted the photographs I took throughout the day on my Flickr page.

We hope to send you news of the donation of the property, which we hope will be imminent -- keep your fingers crossed!

In the meantime many thanks once again to everyone who helped out yesterday.  We couldn't be doing this without you.

Cheers --

See this tree, and how it is leaning dangerously close to the house?

It's HUGE -- and a great danger to our efforts.

The very first thing we need to do, once we garner the donation of the house, is to
have a tree service come in to take it
down.  This will, of course, cost a great
deal of money (we will probably ask the
service to also take away the piles and piles
of brush you all helped clear yesterday).

This is one of those countless expenses
we will incur once we own the home.

Please consider a financial contribution
-- a tax-deductible one, thanks to the
Foundation for Metrowest -- to our project,
so we can continue to work to preserve this
vital preservation project.
