Here's our SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!  WELCOME to
Sassy Stitches!!!!!
We are very excited to share our new shop name with you!  Signs and logos will gradually change to Sassy Stitche and we plan to have all the changes made by January 1, 2017. Not many other things will change. We have the same FABULOUS staff, the best FABRIC you can find, and more FUN going on than ever!

Thanks to all who attended Open House!  Long distance customers will notice that we have scheduled a Breakfast Club just for you!  If you see another class you would like us to add in the Spring, let me know and we will try to make it happen. Anyone who lives away from Franklin and didn't attend Open House can email me to join the Birthday Club.  More on that below.

With Open House, new machines to learn, and the holidays, we aren't offering quite as many classes in November. We will offer a few in December and then get ready for lots of classes and clubs for 2017!

Remember that we carry all of the Creative Grids rulers and tools you will need for Deb's upcoming events so call or come by the shop to get all of your supplies! We will be glad to ship them to you if you don't live close by. And as usual, we will have specials just for the attendees.  Have a great week and come see us!

Ryan's Case for Smiles
Our charity focus at Sassy Stitches is Ryan's Case for Smiles. This is an organization that provides fun pillowcases for sick children .  ALL of our donations will be used in Asheville, NC at Mission Children's Hospital. I volunteered for this charity for several years and have personally delivered pillow cases to kids at Mission Children's Hospital and assure you it brings great joy to sick children to pick out a fun pillowcase. When you read the story about Cindy and her son, Ryan, you will understand what a great cause this is. It's the perfect charity for anyone who sews! Here is a link to the organization's website.
We will accept pillowcases, fabric donations for making pillow cases and monetary donations. If you choose to make pillowcases, there are tips on the website (see link above) about making them. The volunteers who take the pillowcases wash them before delivery. Something so simple as a fun pillowcase really does bring a smile to a sick child.  THANKS!

Giving Back
We collected over $120 for our local " Shop With A Cop" Christmas program! Thank you so much for your contributions. Sassy Stitches added enough to make our donation an even $200 from Sassy Stitches and Customers. The Macon County Sheriff's Department was very appreciative of your donations. Way to go!
------------------------------------------------------------------

Jerrie Tacia, one of our staff members, has worked with Operation Christmas Child through her church for several years.  She has some great ideas to share!

"Operation Christmas Child Shoe Boxes touch not only the life of the child who received the box, but also their family!  At one of our coordinator's meetings last year it was shared that when a child receives a toothbrush in the box, it is shared often shared by the whole family, because none of them have access to one otherwise.  ( So now, instead of one or two, we encourage participants to put several in the box!)

Mini sewing kits can be easily created. A mid-size to large empty prescription bottle (completely washed out so it's free of any residue from the pills it contained ) is a great container.   Put in some needles, bobbins or small spools of thread, safety pins, some buttons---and you may have made it possible for the recipient or their family to repair their clothing.  Pack some fabric in the shoe box , and you may make it possible for there to be an extra skirt, or top or simple market bag to be created.  (If you pack a drinking bottle or pair of shoes ...roll some fabric up and put it inside.)

Some families count on fish for their meals. A simple fishing kit may enable them to be more successful. The medicine bottle is again a great container to make use of.  Pack in some fishing line, hooks, small bobbers, weights...and you may help feed a child's family!

Clean containers are available at the shop.  Feel free to pick some up to create kits, or bring in items and we'll put them together for you.

Our shop is collecting items for packing boxes, as well as filled shoe boxes to be sent out.  If you are not close enough to come to the shop, check around your local area.  There are businesses, schools, and churches all over the country participating, and they would be happy to accept your contribution."

Jerrie will be taking our boxes to be shipped with the ones from her church. The last day to donate at the shop is Saturday, 11/12.
Here is a link to an article from the "Franklin Press" about a young lady who received one of these Shoe Boxes when she was a child. Wow!                             Franklin Press Article
2017 Clubs and Classes!!!!!
We are so excited about our 2017 Clubs and Classes at Sassy Stitches!  For me, this shop has always been a place to fellowship with quilting and sewing friends.  It's a place where you are greeted when you enter and taken care of while you're here.  We want you to come SEW!  It's fun to hear about the new fabric and notions that come in.  We will still share that with you.  But we want to focus on sewing and working towards completing projects. The only requirement is that you have FUN!! So come join us for some fun and sewing.  It wouldn't be the same without YOU!!!

Here is the "Sit and Sew" schedule for the first 6 months of 2017.  We will look at how it all worked, get your suggestions, and decide how we want it to look for the last 6 months of the year. Every THIRD TUESDAY of the month from 10 - 3.
--------------------------------------------------
FREE Hand Sewing at Sassy Stitches
Every FIRST FRIDAY of the month from 10 - 3
The goal this year is MORE SEWING!  Instead of popping in, getting your pattern and a commercial of what's new, let's gather and sew and fellowship. Most clubs/classes are scheduled for 2 or 3 hours.  If nothing else is scheduled for the day, students/customers may stay and sew until 3:30.  Your instructor will have to return to the floor to help other customers at the end of the class but you are welcomed to stay and sew a little more on your own.

Instructions, supply lists, and other information will be sent to you via email.  You may also come by the shop to pick up your information.  All club information will be available beginning Dec. 15, 2016. Dec. 15th is also the last day to sign up for clubs.  We have to get everything totaled up and ordered.

All club members will receive one 10% off coupon for club supplies.  Each club must have at least 3 members for the club to begin.  If 2 or fewer people sign up for a club it will be cancelled and we will call you.  In that case, you choose whether you want a refund or shop credit.  Shop credit will be issued in the form of a certificate which you can redeem for shop merchandise.

CLASS POLICIES
1)   Class/Club Fee is due at registration.  You may register in person or by phone with a credit card.
2)  Most of the classes and clubs have a 3 person minimum.  In some cases, when a class requires a lot of prep work, we will have the class with fewer people. If we cancel the class, we will either refund your money or issue a store credit.  If you cancel, you will receive store credit.
3)  Out of respect for other class members and our staff, the following are NOT allowed at class:
     a)  Cell phones that are not turned to silent or vibrate (Also,                please take all conversations outside of the classroom.)
     b)  Friends who have not paid to take the class
     c)  Pets
     d)  Strong perfumes
4)  Please arrive 10 minutes before the start of class to set up and be ready to begin on time. The back door, closest to the classroom, will be unlocked on class days at 9:45.
5)  You must know your machine unless you are attending a Janome machine education class.
6)  We are happy to provide extra rulers and other tools for you to borrow while in a class or club.  Due to losing several items lately, we will ask you for your keys in exchange for borrowing a tool. It's so easy to put an item in your bag of stuff when you are packing up so this will prevent this problem and allow us to continue sharing.

Show and Tell!
Part of Show and Tell this week is my sweet friends, The Merritts. Lindsay and I taught together for a few years and she still teaches in the Charlotte area.  I love these folks and enjoyed them visiting the shop during Open House!

Here are some quilts that were shared with us.  Thanks for letting us enjoy them!

Walker paid us a visit this week.  He was funny sticking hid head through my sewing machine desk.  We missed getting the picture the first time so we were bribing him with pretzels to get him to do it again!

Quilt Sampler and Kits
We still have kits ready to purchase for Deb's beautiful Strippy Stars Medallion which is named, "Study in Contrast" in the current Quilt Sampler Magazine.  We are so honored that the shop is featured in this issue and know you will want a copy! We are also offering the kit in these beautiful reds.
