Sassy Stitches!

Our first Sassy Stitches Summer Sew Along Retreat is in the books and did we ever have fun!  Lots of sewing took place.  There was a tremendous amount of laughter, good food, and wonderful fellowship.  I read to the group each day during lunch.  I guess it's the teacher in me, but you can't best a good read-aloud.  Here is a link to the hilarious story I read.  The blogger who posted this story is an attorney. It appears she got aggravated that her audience liked this particular post better than all her others!  Oh well - it's so funny!
It's a little long but well worth the read.  Thanks to all who came to our retreat. It was great to be with old friends and make new ones. I appreciate you all lots!

You are in store for a wonderful 2017 Carolina Shop Hop! Check out all the shop quilts on the website. All of them are beautiful and different.  We have prizes galore and as usual, every shop will have a notion on sale for 25% off! Our notion will be this wonderful little Steamfast Travel Steam Iron. It's a small iron but packs a big punch!  It's great for taking to classes and also good for using on small projects at home.

Make your plans now to hop around to all of our wonderful shops!

Remember we are providing opportunities for you to come work on your club projects during the "Sit & Sew" times this year or if
you're not in a club, just come sew! These days have been set aside for you to use our classroom and the supplies while you fellowship with others and work towards completing projects.   BUT . . . YOU MUST RESERVE A SPOT.  We are limiting the number of people to 10 on each of the sewing days so if you are interested you need to call and reserve your spot.  It's totally free!  But we only have room for so many so let us know you're coming and we will let you know if there is still room. You can get into the classroom at 9:45 and sew until 4:00!  WOW!
Staff can answer questions and help you briefly but they will be working on the floor taking care of other business. This is not class time so please be respectful of our staff members .
We will continue sew days each month so keep an eye out for the dates!

Until next Sunday, have a wonderful week and come see us!

Show & Tell
Monica made this super cute label using her Janome Memory Craft 15000.  It's for her Farm Girl Quilt which is adorable!

Check out this reversible little quilt.  Sew cute!

AND look at these Ginny Beyer blocks!  WOW!

Gwen was super excited about getting this quilt back from Jan. I took this picture and since she left her phone in the car, I told her I would text the picture to her.  I tried and kept getting that message , "Not delivered."   I kept on trying, and kept on and on . . . . .  Finally I sent her a text and told her I couldn't get it to go for some reason.  In a little while she texted back and said, "Hi - I've gotten about 17 copies of the picture of my quilt.  Thanks!"  I guess 17 is better than none.

Linda made this beautiful panel quilt using Northcott's "Silent Night" fabric.  We're out of the pattern but more have been ordered!
Jerrie made another panel quilt using this line that is just beautiful but I didn't get a picture before it went to Jan to be quilted.  I'll have that to show you next week.

Carrie bought panels at the shop and created her own beautiful quilts!

Ryan's Case for Smiles
Our charity focus at Sassy Stitches is Ryan's Case for Smiles. This is an organization that provides fun pillowcases for sick children .  ALL of our donations will be used in Asheville, NC at Mission Children's Hospital. I volunteered for this charity for several years and have personally delivered pillow cases to kids at Mission Children's Hospital and assure you it brings great joy to sick children to pick out a fun pillowcase. When you read the story about Cindy and her son, Ryan, you will understand what a great cause this is. It's the perfect charity for anyone who sews! Here is a link to the organization's website.
We will accept pillowcases, fabric donations for making pillow cases and monetary donations. If you choose to make pillowcases, there are tips on the website (see link above) about making them. The volunteers who take the pillowcases wash them before delivery. Something so simple as a fun pillowcase really does bring a smile to a sick child.  THANKS!
