Blog Post: Changes to Bonded Title Application Process
  
 

Beginning on September 1, 2017, Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TXDMV) will require a vehicle identification number inspection for motor vehicles that do not have a Texas motor vehicle record. For dealers, if you must apply for bonded title, then you will also need to have a completed Law Enforcement Identification Number Inspection. A Half-Million Flooded Cars and Trucks Could Be Scrapped after Harvey

They seem to be in almost every picture or video of flooded neighborhoods in and around Houston. There are scores of cars and trucks with water up to their windows and in some cases over the hood and roof. In fact, the flooding is so extensive, Cox Automotive estimates a half-million vehicles may wind up in the scrap yard.

VW Recalls 280,915 Vehicles for Potential Fuel Pump Failure

Volkswagen of America Inc. is recalling 280,915 CCs and Passats because a fuel pump failure could cause the engine to stall, increasing the risk of a crash. The recall, filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, covers 2009-16 Volkswagen CC sedans and 2006-10 Passat sedans and wagons.

Happier Service Customer May Be One Who Schedules Online

Among dealership service customers who scheduled their appointment online, more than three-fourths (76 percent) said they were apt to go that route again, according to research from Cox Automotive. What's more, setting up the service visit online creates a path toward a happier customer, says Jim Roche, vice president of marketing and managed services at Xtime. Problem is, many customers don't know that online appointment-setting is an option.  

Ford Sued over 'Inferior Design' of Lug Nuts

Hundreds of Ford owners are suing the automaker over allegedly defective lug nuts. The suit, which seeks class-action status, claims the lug nuts on millions of Ford Fusion, Escape, Flex, Focus, F-150 and F-350 vehicles can swell and delaminate, making it difficult to remove the wheels without paying for repairs and new lug nuts.

Driverless Cars of the Future Confront Rules Written for Drivers

When the U.S. government finally got around to regulating auto safety in 1967, it insisted that every car have seatbelts and that the steering column be engineered to absorb impact so it wouldn't spear the driver. The safety rulebook has since swelled to nearly 900 pages and encompasses everything from electronic stability control to rear-view backup cameras. Through all the updates, however, the regulations remain premised on an assumption that may soon be obsolete: that a human would be at the wheel.
