About ACLS
The Access Community Lecture Series, hosted by the Access Ministry of McLean Bible Church, takes place on designated Monday evenings from Oct.- May.  A speaker gives a presentation on a topic of interest to the disability community. They cover a variety of issues affecting all ages and disabilities. The lectures are free and open to anyone in the community who would be helped by these resources especially parents, teachers, therapists, and volunteers. 
OCTOBER Lecture

Addressing Problem Behaviors 
A Successful Team Approach

Dr. Jane Barbin , BCBA-D, Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Licensed Behavioral Analyst, and Executive Director of Behavioral Directions, LLC, will kick off the 2017 Access Community Lecture Series season.  She will present the reasons challenging behaviors occur in children with special needs; the Functional Behavioral Assessment process; and strategies that can be incorporated into the classroom and at home for improvement.  Dr. Barbin will discuss developmental phases that can set the stage for difficult behaviors, if not handled properly; ways to increase positive replacement behaviors; and practical application of evidence-based procedures.  Ways of supporting your child's school team in developing an effective plan to pave the way for a successful school year will also be covered.
