“The cost of international adoption is so daunting— knowing there are adoption assistance grants available makes this journey feel possible and I believe for many families, it helps them to say ‘yes’ because it offers hope.”

We’re writing to you today to share a sweet story with you in the hopes that you too will say, “YES,” to Amanda and Calvary…two precious girls who need our help getting home.

Amanda is 13 years old and about to age out of the adoption system in China—meaning her chances of ever having a family are fading quickly. She has spina bifida, clubbed feet, dislocated hips and other issues common to spina bifida. She is wheelchair bound, but this does not dampen her spirits. She is brilliant, funny, joyful, sweet and very simply, just happy. She has been in an orphanage since she was abandoned at the age of one. If Amanda were to age out, she would be placed in an institution for children with special needs and would not receive the medical care she deserves. Amanda has never been allowed to go to school because of her disability, but despite this, she has developed the most caring, loving, disposition—always helping to take care of the other children around her. She remains full of joy despite her diagnosis and isolation from other kids her age.

Calvary is almost two years old and was born with cytomegalovirus which led to brain damage and hydrocephalus. She is beautiful inside and out, smart and funny. Calvary has been in the orphanage since birth. At 9 months old she was placed in foster care, but little else is known about her time there.

Natalie and Robert see a different life for these girls then the one that lies before them now. They see a bright future, full of hope, school, therapy, medical care, friends, birthday parties, and more. Amanda shares, “We have the room in our home and the love of a family to give—we want to make them our daughters.”

We recognize that so many of you already support Gift of Adoption in a plethora of ways; but, if the timing is right for you to support Amanda and Calvary’s journey home, we, and especially they, would be most grateful. Our goal is to raise $5,000 to fund one more adoption assistance grant before our fiscal year ends on June 30th. Every gift, no matter the size will help change the trajectory of Amanda and Calvary’s lives forever.

So let’s take action.  Let’s take action so that hope PREVAILS.  So that it’s alive and well in the lives these girls will lead and in the legacies we’ll all leave behind.

Thank you for your ongoing generosity and support!

Gratefully,
