Scene: Brooklyn returns May 2-6, showcasing new and cutting-edge work exclusively by Brooklyn-based filmmakers. BAC's 4th annual independent film and media arts series includes short and feature films across multiple genres, an outdoor multimedia presentation, a documentary workshop and more film-focused events at screening venues in DUMBO, Williamsburg and Fort Greene.

SHORTS PROGRAM: BROOKLYN IN BRIEF

GREEN | RED

FREE - The Archway under the Manhattan Bridge, Adams St. at Water St., DUMBO

Presented during the Dumbo 1st Thursday Gallery Walk.

GREEN | RED is a site-specific and immersive audio-visual experience by Peter Burr and Friends. Scrolling and cascading video "frames" provide the viewpoint into a computer wilderness, with an accompanying surround-soundtrack. Curated by Mono No Aware.

Co-presented with the Dumbo Improvement District with support from National Endowment for the Arts and One Dream Sound.

FEATURE PRESENTATION: REDLEGS

A night with Brooklyn-based critic, programmer and filmmaker Brandon Harris, featuring a special sneak preview of Redlegs (US, 2012, 77min), a tragi-comedy about death set in his hometown of Cincinnati. Harris will discuss his efforts as both a critic and filmmaker, and will open the night with a showing of his short film “Biospheres,” an adaptation of a Jonathan Lethem story, starring filmmaker Ry Russo-Young.

DOCU FEATURE: SNEAK PREVIEW OF THE IRAN JOB
SATURDAY, MAY 5, 7:30PM

$15 - Kumble Theater for Performing Arts at LIU Brooklyn 1 University Plaza, Downtown Brooklyn

Exclusive sneak preview screening of the much anticipated, soon-to-be-completed documentary The Iran Job (US-Germany, WIP/2012, 93min). The film follows American basketball player Kevin Sheppard as he accepts a job to play in Iran. Over the course of a season he forms an unlikely alliance with three outspoken Iranian women, turning his apartment into an oasis of free speech, where they discuss everything from politics to religion to gender roles. Followed by a Q & A with filmmakers Till Schauder, Sara Nodjoumi, and executive producer Abigail Disney. Moderated by Karim Sadjadpour of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.

Preceded by "I am John Wayne," an award-winning short by Christina Choe.

MASTER CLASS WITH JEM COHEN

An interactive workshop and screening with Jem Cohen, one of the most original and consistent voices in New York City's arts scene. Defying genres, Cohen has continued
to have his finger on the political pulse with his recent 'newsreels' of the Occupy Movement. A long-time Brooklyn resident, Cohen will give us a rare in-depth glimpse into his working process by showcasing works he has made, as well as some that have inspired him.
