Shevat 5776/January 2016
Message from the Executive Director:

With all our schools back in session, let me wish you a belated, "Happy New (Secular) Year" and hope that you all took some much-needed and well-deserved time during your winter break to rest, to relax and to recharge. With the incredible challenges and demands Jewish day schools place upon its professionals and lay leaders, it is important to remember how important wellness can be. You cannot take care of all the people who depend upon you if you are not taking care of yourself.

We continue to do our best to make personal visits to as many schools as we can. I am going to get pretty close to visiting each school by the end of my second year!  Upcoming visits include Solomon Schechter Academy (Montreal), Golda Och Academy (NJ), Gerrard Berman Day School (NJ), Schechter of Westchester (NY) and  Schechter of Long Island (NY).  More are being scheduled and if you are not on the list and would like to be, do let us know.  Being with our schools remains our highest priority.

As you reenter the regular rhythms and routines of school, please know that we only exist to help you make your school the best it can be. So in addition to ongoing programs, we stand ready to answer your questions or to help tackle any of your issues.  For matters small or big, you are always welcome to reach out. Wishing you the sunniest of wintertime, we look forward to seeing you soon.

edJEWcon visits
Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School
In the 21st century, the availability of new information is growing exponentially, and so are the ways we share and learn information. edJEWcon's co-founders Andrea Hernandez and Silvia Tolisano visited Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School to document how the students and educators learn and teach amid the stream of innovations in the modern world. They saw and experienced first-hand the important (but often overlooked) role that modern documentation takes as both a tool and process of learning.

Everyone at edJEWcon and Schechter would like to thank the Charles E. Smith's staff, faculty, and students for being incredible hosts and teaching us so much. Read more about the visit here, and make sure to watch the videos of what STEM means to the Charles E. Smith community!
