As part of our commitment to volunteerism, Community Thread is proud to award a
$500 scholarship to
Area High School graduate who exemplifies commitment to our community through volunteerism.
We are pleased to announce
this year's scholarship recipient - Ava Coleman
Ava is proud to be a lifelong resident of the Stillwater Area School District. She has shown her commitment by
providing 1,000 hours of volunteer service throughout the community. Ava recognizes the importance of volunteerism and notes that many organizations rely on volunteers for their success.
"Volunteering impacts so many others and is a way to contribute to organizations that are important to you," says Ava. "There are endless opportunities to get involved - even if you only have a few hours a week."
Ava also notes the many rewarding experiences received through volunteerism. In fact, it was through a volunteer role at her church that she realized she wants to be a teacher. This fall, Ava plans to attend the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, where she will major in history in hopes of one day becoming a high school teacher.
Congratulations to Ava and best wishes for a bright future!
