A New Song or New Verse?
“Sing to the Lord a New Song for He has done marvelous things; His right hand and His holy arm have worked salvation for Him.”  Ps 98:1 ESV
Here we are again at the start of another new school year. Seems like just yesterday we were at the closing picnic. But here we go again. Same song different verse! Yet our text today reminds us that every day that we live in God’s Grace is like a new song. The old ragged sins of yesterday are gone and God’s work of Salvation makes today a new day to live in His grace.

Synod’s theme for this year of the 500th Reformation Celebration reminds us that no matter what number this new school year is for you, it’s a brand new day to celebrate that it is “Still all about Jesus.” Because that is not only our vocation, it is who we are as redeemed children of Christ.

My prayer is that you take time to reflect how Christ puts a new song in your heart every day. That you reflect on the chances you will have this next year to remind children, parents and fellow staff members of the new start they have in life because of Christ’s death and resurrection. And that you will keep your eyes, ears and hearts open to share with someone who does not yet know of His Salvation, that it is still…all about Jesus.

God’s peace,
Mike

  2. How has Salvation through Christ put a new song in your heart?
  3. How can you share the hope of a “new song” with others this year?

For use in staff meetings, print devotion and discussion questions.
