Singing in Church
Why do the Shepherd of the Hills school students sing on Sunday at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church?

Shepherd of the Hills Christian School is a major mission of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church.  When the students sing in church on Sunday we are given the opportunity to worship with our church/school family.    We are given the opportunity to share in and tell others about the joy of Jesus in our hearts.  We can participate in the ACTS of worship with our church/school family:

Adoration      Confession     Thanksgiving      Supplication

Our first opportunity to sing in a worship service is Sunday, September 24 at the 10:45 Contemporary Service in the gym.  Students from the ELC to eighth grade are encouraged to participate on that Sunday to sing our theme song for the year, "Stand Together."  The song goes along with our church/school theme this year - Here We Stand:  Word, Faith, Grace.
Save the Dates:
The school students (ELC - 8th Grade) are scheduled to sing in church on these four Sundays.

September 24, 10:45 Contemporary Service in the gym
November 12, 8:00 Traditional Service in the church
January 21, National Lutheran Schools Week
April 22, 10:45 Traditional Service in the church

Our school earns five points per dollar spent, with many additional bonus points opportunities. Receipts can be logged at the Retail/Residential Management Office or dropped in the collection box in the Concierge Lobby if you do not need them returned. Remember to tell your family, friends, neighbors and co-workers to log their receipts. Anyone can support your school in the Street Smarts program. Questions? QUESTION:  Every night is a battle to get my 5th grade son to do his homework.  I get so frustrated and angry; it ruins the night for the whole family.  Any suggestions?

ANSWER:  I firmly believe that struggles with children are opportunities for God to transform parents. Sadly, we parents usually don't want, nor do we often seize these opportunities. Here is an opportunity for you to understand and empathize with the heart of God.  We are God's children. We wound him deeply by our refusal to live how we should. Our rebellion springs out of childish defiance and selfishness.  There are many reasons why we are call "children" of God. One of the opportunities God provides for parents is to watch our own sinful foolishness lived out in the actions and attitudes of our children. In an event as common as battling over homework, God gives parents an opportunity for reflection and repentance.  But, that's not really what you wanted to hear ...
