Principal's Pen
Shepherd of the Hills Christian School is constantly striving to provide our students with the best possible learning environment. In accordance with our mission statement of excelling in academics, we will be providing Chromebooks to each K-8 classroom. Technology provides us tools to enrich curriculum and learning within the classroom. Chromebooks are a cost-effective Cloud-based laptop that allow students to collaborate, create, and connect with one another both inside and beyond the four walls of the classroom. Chromebooks run Google's operating system, Chrome OS, and allow students to use their school account to sign in and utilize Web 2.0 tools. Chromebooks can be used to curate information, conduct research, or - my personal favorite - create content! It also assists teachers in helping build a student's personal academic strengths and address their areas of weakness.  It is our desire to supply each K-8 classrooms with five Chromebooks each, giving Shepherd a total of 45 Chromebooks.

Black and Blue Thank You
Thanks to all who participated in preparing for the Black Tie and Blue Jeans auction and to all those who generously supported the auction.  As a result of your support the auction raised over $35,000 to support our school and short term mission team.  With your support our school will improve the athletic field and athletic equipment for the safety and enjoyment of our students.  Our mission team will provide VBS and dental services to Cambodia through the "Crossing Cambodia" and "Ray of Hope" missions.
Box Tops for Education
Thank you, Shepherd, for bringing in your box tops to your classrooms that earned us $926.60 this year!  Keep clipping all summer and we will continue the classroom contests next year!

Jack's Corner
QUESTION:  My kids and I were really disturbed by the bombings in the Egyptian churches we heard on the news.  We prayed about the whole situation and talked a little, but the weight of the event just seems to hang over us.  How can we as parents best use this time?
ANSWER:  Your comments really encourage me!  First, we should be deeply "disturbed"...
