Iowa Deafblind Project 2017 Summer Workshop
Iowa’s Deafblind Services Project will host a summer workshop at the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center in Coralville, Iowa on June 8-9, 2017. Topics include transition for youth to adult programs, early childhood, deafblind basics and communication. The workshop will include a family and youth panel to discuss successes and challenges in school, home and community. Find registration and details at www.iowadeafblind.org/summer.

Accessible Instructional Materials: Information for Families
Even though the school year just came to an end, it isn’t too early to order alternative format textbooks for the 2017-2018 school year! Alternative formats include Braille, large print, audio and digital text.

Summer Music Programs from Kids in Harmony

Kids in Harmony provides private and group music therapy services to individuals with disabilities in the Des Moines Metro area, and they have some exciting new opportunities for summer!


Kids in Harmony is offering an Adaptive Social Music group for elementary and middle school age students, and as a bonus, a sibling may attend the group at no cost! They also offer Parent/Child Developmental Music groups that are inclusive of all abilities for preschool age and younger!

Respite Connection Now Offering Mental Health Therapy Services
Respite Connection now offers mental health therapy services specializing in individuals with special needs and their families. They provide therapy services for individuals, couples and families, as well as parent and sibling support groups.

Each family experiences unique strengths and struggles. Therapy and groups can help to address concerns with relationships with each child, spousal relationships, single parenting, differing parenting styles, behavioral concerns, divorce, peer support, self-care and more.
