Summer is here and with it comes the summer camping season! Hundreds of Scouts are already having a blast at Bert Adams and Woodruff Scout Camps and we're excited to serve many more throughout the season.

We're also excited to recognize this year's Eagle Scouts this month and begin preparing for the new school year. Learn more about what you and your Scouts can do this summer below.
Make Sure Your Be A Scout Pin is Updated for Fall
The Boy Scouts of America have made it easier than ever for new families to find Packs, Troops and Crews in their area with BeAScout.org.

To make sure that every youth has the chance to be a Scout, we want to ensure that all of the unit pins on Be A Scout are correct before school starts this August.

Cubmasters, Scoutmasters and Committee Chairs should take a few moments in the next week to update their pin on Be A Scout. Include your unit's meeting times, leader contact information and for Packs and whether you will be participating in Family Scouting this fall.
B ring your Cub Scouts to Overnight Camp!
Join us at Bert Adams for Cub Scout Overnight Camp this summer and you'll see a whole new side of your Scouts. They'll run faster, swim harder and hike farther than you've ever seen before!

Cub Scout Overnight Camp is a four-day three-night resident camp for Cub Scouts and Webelos at Bert Adams Scout Camp near Covington, Georgia. There are 4 sessions of Summer Camp in 2018, including two Friday-Monday weekend sessions. Cub Scout Overnight Camp is open to groups of any size. Attend as a whole Pack, bring one Den or just come as a family!
The Atlanta Area Council would like to invite the 2017/2018 Dr. "Bud" Peterson Eagle Scout Class, their families, Scoutmasters, and leaders to attend the Council Eagle Scout Recognition Ceremony this Saturday, June 9, 2018. The event will be conducted at the Rialto Center for the Arts at Georgia State University and will include a keynote address from Dr. G.P. "Bud" Peterson, President of the Georgia Institute of Technology.

This ceremony will prove to be a highlight you and your family will not want to miss. This event is provided free of charge to our Eagle Scouts, their families, and leaders due to the generosity of our sponsors. The Eagle Scout Recognition Ceremony recognizes the young men of the Atlanta Area Council that attained the rank of Eagle Scout from June 1, 2017 - June 1, 2018.
Who wouldn't want a Second Week of Summer Camp!?
This summer any Scout or Venturer who attends Bert Adams Scout Camp or Woodruff Scout Camp for Summer Camp can receive discounted admission for a second week!

Earn more merit badges, take another whitewater trek or experience a week at both of our best-in-class facilities. With the Seconds Camper Program you can fit twice as much adventure into one summer. They’ll spend the week with some of the best volunteer and staff leadership in Metro-Atlanta. Parents and volunteer leaders are also welcome to attend for a second week at a special rate.
Take Youth Protection Training 2 Online or at the Volunteer Service Center
Imagine a world where more people are committed to keeping kids safe. The BSA is serious about fighting child abuse, and you are an important part of that fight.

The BSA has announced bold, wide-ranging updates to its Youth Protection program as part of an ongoing effort to protect young people from child abuse.

This starts with an enhanced online Youth Protection training course all volunteers and professionals must complete.

The online course is available to all leaders now and in-person sessions will be offered on Saturdays in June at the Volunteer Service Center.

Scout leaders who took the previous version of Youth Protection training have been asked to log into My.Scouting.org and complete the updated Youth Protection course by Oct. 1, 2018.
