Announcing NESA Gathering

The Georgia-Carolina Council will hold an Eagle Gathering to Organize a NESA Chapter.

National Eagle Scout Association. All Eagle Scouts are invited regardless of when or where you eared the Eagle Award.

The meeting will take place in the council service center located at 4132 Madeline Drive in Augusta. Refreshments will be provided and a brief program will follow discussing the purpose and benefits of a NESA Chapter.

There is no fee for the event, however, we do ask for RSVP's to the council service center at 706-733-5277 or email [email protected]

Youth protection is of paramount importance to the Boy Scouts of America. To cultivate a safe environment, the BSA developed numerous procedural and leadership selection policies. They  provide parents and leaders with resources for the Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and Venturing programs.

Is your Youth Protection Training current? Not sure? Why not take a few minutes and update it now to be sure that you are up-to-date? Click here to take the self-paced course. Be sure to print a certificate of completion at the end of the course!

The BSA also educates and empowers youth members to be an active part of their safety by teaching the "3 R's" of Youth Protection:

-Recognize situations that place a youth at risk of being molested, how child molesters operate, and that anyone could be a molester.

-Resist unwanted and inappropriate attention. Resistance will stop most attempts as molestation.

-Report attempted or actual molestation to a parent or other trusted adult. This prevents future abuse and helps protect other children.

Notify our Scout Executive, Jeff Schwab, of any violation of BSA's Youth Protection Policies, so he may take appropriate action for the safety of our Scouts.

Thanks,

Brian Taylor- Field Director

Jimmie Dyess Days Approaching

Mark your calendars for October 9-11, 2015 for the Jimmie Dyess Days Event to be held at Fort Gordon on Barton Field.

This is the third edition of Jimmie Dyess Days also known as JDD and the planning committee has been meeting for a few months already on what promises to be an exciting program full of fun and adventure.

While this will be a great time and lots of things to do it will take several volunteers to make the event happen and the committee is beginning to assemble the manpower.  If you are interested in supporting the event please let us know and we will be happy to find a job for you.  At this time we ask that you send us your name, phone number and email so we can reach out to you with a list of things to volunteer for.

Thanks and see you in October. Sneak Peek Flyer

Council Committee's Looking for volunteers

Are you interested in any of the following: Aquatics, High Adventure, Shooting Sports, Conservation, Maintenance, Marketing/PR (Internet, Facebook etc.)Special Needs Scouting, COPE.

We are looking for people interested in any of the committees listed and would like to know if you would be willing to find out more about what we want to do at a council level to support our programs and facilities.  If you have experience in the field that is great we are very interested in talking to you, if you don't have experience but have an interest, that's ok as well just let us know.

Please email us at the council service center with your contact information and a bit about yourself as it relates to the committee(s) you are interested in being a member. Some committees are more developed than others at this time and some committee's will be relatively limited in size and number of times each year the committee meets.
