JULY 28 6:00PM

Greetings Everyone!

Our 2015 Fall Round Up Campaign is just around the corner and as you know, one of the keys to a very healthy and vibrant Boy Scout council is a strong fall round up season.  Membership is our life-blood and now more than ever, young people need the values and program concepts that Scouting teaches.

We are pleased and very excited to let you know that our council has been selected by the National Council of the BSA to participate in a pilot program titled "Build an Adventure, Launch into Scouting."  As part of the pilot, we have been asked to follow the plan as outlined which will insure an effective and most successful "School Night for Scouting."  Experienced volunteer and staff leaders have been working for months, laying the foundation of support, to guide you toward success... now, it is up to all of us to simply follow the plan - give your kids, and their friends-- and all boys who are interested-- the opportunity to join a great program.  To give you an idea of what we're planning.... We are targeting two coordinated school nights (one in Georgia and one in South Carolina) based on the school schedules and are going to put great emphasis in making these nights THE NIGHTS to join Scouting in our respective communities.  This way we may all get back to what we do best.... Delivering a quality scouting experience to the youth of our communities!

To officially kick things off, we are holding a Council-wide Fall Round Up Kick-off/Training on July 28th beginning at 6:30 pm in the training room at 4128 Madeline Drive, Augusta GA (the building directly beside the council service center)A light dinner will be served.  We will grill hot dogs at no charge to you!  In addition, the scout shop will be open until about 7 pm on the 28th in case you have any scout shopping needs that evening.  At this important meeting, we will unveil our plans, equip all our packs for success, and answer any questions that may come up.

You can help play a very important role in this process.  First and foremost, we need your support of our approach and ask that you help rally the leaders in your packs and spread the excitement.  We truly believe that a good turn-out at our July 28th training/kick-off will help set the pace and determine our success with this very important part of our fall program.  Secondly, please help us seek commitments from your leaders to attend this important event and please let us know that your unit will be in attendance and how many people so that we may plan accordingly by Monday, July 27th at 5 pm.  Lastly, we look forward to having you in attendance with us on the 28th.

Thank you all in advance for your support of this very important venture.  Please feel free to pass this along as you see fit.  We look forward to working with all of you this fall and making this fall the best it can possibly be.

Yours in  Scouting,

Brian Taylor
Field Director

Dear Scouts and Scouters:

At the 2017 National Jamboree, you can experience all the thrills of extreme outdoor sports, tons of interactive exhibits, a day of local community service across West Virginia, awesome arena shows and fireworks, and of course wi-fi throughout.

As the Georgia-Carolina Council begins to plan for the 2017 National Jamboree more than 2 years before the big event, we want you to plan to go with us to join 35,000+ other Scouts and Leaders for 10 days of adventure.

The dates of the jamboree are July 19-28, 2017 and the fee (including travel to/from WV, pre-Jamboree tour, shakedown camping trip, the jamboree fee, 10 days of meals, and Troop/Patrol gear such as tents, cots, etc.) is estimated to be $1500-1650. While many of the final costs are still unknown and unknowable at this early date it's not too early to begin planning.  (We will keep everyone updated on fee estimates as we learn more)

Scouting Youth (Boy Scouts and make/female Venturers) are encouraged to apply, subject to minimum age requirements.  A number of Adult unit leader positions are open, too.

Youth and Adults can find additional details and need to register online at BSAJAMBOREE.ORGAND also contact the Georgia-Carolina Council Office to put your name on the list to make your $100 deposit and begin making regular payments.  Look for information soon on a local payment plan and dates.
