The Program Planning Kick-Off
Are you ready for an amazing year of Scouting? We are kicking off 2016 with a bang and hope you will join us. The Program Kick-off is all about helping your Unit build the best program ever! This event is your chance to get everything you need to plan an exciting year including the new Council Program Calendar, best methods from experienced volunteer leaders and answers to all of your questions. PHOTO OF THE MONTH
Crew 43 celebrated sweet victory after claiming the Order of the Arrow Great Race title. Campout 100 was host to the ultimate inter-patrol competition designed to challenge patrols across all facets of their scouting skills, knowledge and teamwork over a three-hour period during which time patrols completed in as many events as they could in order to achieve the best overall score. Crew 43 clinched the 2016 title. Congratulations!

We want every young person to have the chance to be a Scout, and we want YOU to let them know why it rocks! Spring Recruitment is upon us, and the Council will be providing flyers and peer-to-peer cards to Troops and Crews. Scouting for Food
April 2016
Scouting for Food is an incredible opportunity for Scouts to support local food pantries, while learning lifelong lessons about community service and good citizenship. Scouting for Food runs all year round, and we are kicking off the year with great community service this month for the Atlanta Area Council's Centennial Celebration! Cub Scout Spring Fling
April 8-10, 2016
Spring Fling is this weekend! Don't miss a wild weekend of fishing, shooting sports, hiking, games and much more for Cub Scouts and their families! Come for the weekend or just for the day on Saturday. Other activities include a night hike, sports, crafts, roasting marshmallows and visiting with special guests.  Click here for more information.

The Silver Beaver is the highest honor a Council can bestow upon a volunteer who gives selflessly, not only in the Scouting community but to the community as a whole. Civil Rights Heritage Hike
April 23, 2016
Did you know Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a Scout right here in Atlanta? He and his Troop met at Ebenezer Baptist Church right off Auburn Avenue! Come tour and discover even more as we hike to some of Atlanta's most iconic places like Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthplace, the Eternal Flame and many others. This Civil Rights Heritage Hike is open to everyone of all ages and is a great way to help celebrate the Atlanta Area Council's 100th Year Anniversary, so bring your friends and family! Scout Day with the Atlanta Braves

Join fellow Scouts while we cheer on our Atlanta Braves as they take on the Arizona Diamondbacks! Celebrate two great Atlanta traditions - Scouting and baseball. Gathering of Eagles

Calling all adult Eagles! The Atlanta Area Council is proud to host the 2016 Gathering of Eagles at the Sun Trust Park Braves Preview Center. Join Gathering of Eagles chairman Arnett Mumford and Committee as we host past Eagle Scouts and Atlanta Area business leaders for a reception and light dinner overlooking the new Sun Trust Park!  This event is limited to Eagles over 21 years of age. P.R.A.Y.
Programs of Religious Activities with Youth (P.R.A.Y.) is a nonprofit organization that develops and administers the religious emblems program (i.e. God and Me, God and Family, God and Church and God for Life) for members of Protestant and Independent Christian churches. This organization is also known for its resources to promote Duty to God and the religious emblems programs of all faiths. Cub Scout Spring Fling
Free camping, free dining hall meals and an awesome patch sounds pretty great, right? Get all this and more when you volunteer to support Cub Scout Spring Fling! Service activities include program staffing, dining hall operations, parking and logistics. All hours count toward service requirements for ranks and school obligations. Summer Camp Staff

We are looking for dedicated and spirited older Scouts or adults to become a part of the Bert Adams and Woodruff Summer Camp staff. TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES
CPR Saturday
May 7, 2016
Be prepared to have fun and learn lifesaving first aid skills. Join us on May 7th for CPR/AED/First Aid Training! Courses range from basic CPR & AED to CPR for the Professional Rescuer. All courses carry the 2-year American Red Cross certification and are offered at a special low rate through the Atlanta Area Council. Courses are open to youth and adults including the community at large. Bring your Unit and invite your non-Scouting friends to learn this important life skill! The Fundamentals of Training
May 11, 2016
The Fundamentals of Training is designed to help Scouters, regardless of their experience, present effective training. The course will help those who might have trained for other organizations learn the BSA's training techniques, and will aid in development programs from unit-level youth leader training taught by youth for youth, to position-specific and supplemental training for adult leaders. Trainer's Edge
May 21, 2016
The Trainer's Edge is part of the Train-The-Trainer Continuum. This is the third part of the three-part Train-The-Trainer Continuum. This course focuses on the participant, while raising the level of skill a trainer brings to the staff experience. This course is intended to "train the trainer" on behaviors and resources while offering hands -on experience in methods and media. Wood Badge
2016 Courses Available Now
Wood Badge is the premier leadership training course for Scout Leaders and is available to registered Leaders of all levels of the Scouting program. It concentrates on providing training on modern leadership skills needed in today's world for Scout Leaders. Gain valuable tools in listening, communicating, conflict management, project planning and leading change.
