Market House Cafe is a perfect fit for the blossoming downtown community... Market House Cafe is another project of the Wild Wonderful Wests of downtown Knoxville. The same folks who brought us Preservation Pub with its upstairs Speakeasy Lounge at Preservation Pub and Magic Beer Tree in the Moonshine Roof Garden, Scruffy City Hall with its Crystal Cave in the Clouds rooftop bar and Uncorked GastroBistro (Oodles Uncorked re-imagined). I didn't make any of those names up. The Moonshine Roof Garden has a Beer Tree. Really. Scott and Bernadette West like over the top. It's their thing.
Market House Cafe is part Visit Knoxville satellite visitor center, part coffee shop, part bar and part high-end sandwich shop.
You may be thinking, "Those are too many things that have nothing to do with one another …" Well, you are not entirely wrong, but you are mostly wrong. You see, every day, people visit Historic Market Square, Knoxville for the first time. In doing so they often wander into businesses to get something to drink or grab a bite to eat. While in these businesses, they often ask more about the city.
Early on Scott West realized the importance of his staff being stewards of Downtown Knoxville. He sent the employees of Market House Cafe to Visit Knoxville's "Gotta Know Knoxville" program. This program is a four-hour course that educates its attendees of the history, attractions, venues and retail outlets of Knoxville. So now when visitors wander in on a whim, not only will the folks behind the counter be able to whip them up something delicious, but they will also be able to tell them about the city...
