Welcome Back!

Our Head of School, Dr. Tekakwitha M. Pernambuco-Wise, told us at the First Day of School Assembly that she was so excited in anticipation of welcoming the pupils back to school that she felt butterflies in her stomach. At Sea Crest we all felt the same enthusiasm in the air. Welcome  back to another incredible school year  full of learning and joy!

Thank you to our volunteers

Thank you to all of the parents, family members and friends who helped prepare the campus for the first day of school! We had a great turnout for the Parent Volunteer Work Day last Saturday and we can't tell you how much the faculty and staff appreciated your hard work.

We would also like to express our gratitude to Susan Trochez Nielsen for planning and coordinating the amazing Welcome Back Celebration on Wednesday afternoon. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped out with setup, supervision, food and clean up. Everyone had a wonderful time.
Thank you to our neighbors

We want to send a heartfelt thank you to our senior neighbors at Half Moon Village who decorated our entrance and baked delicious banana bread for our faculty/staff to welcome our students back to school. What a generous and warm gesture. It was a loving act and we all deeply appreciated it.

Parking Lot Volunteers Needed

We are currently looking for volunteers to commit to our parking lot safety. This can be for just one morning or afternoon per week.

Visit our volunteer website to sign up now!
Poplar Beach Cleanup

Following the example of our 5th graders who steward Poplar Beach, o ur faculty and staff spent the first afternoon of pre-service cleaning up and caring for our beautiful coast-side community.
Upgraded Facilities

We would like to recognize our Facilities Manager, Andrew Geller, who has successfully led a number of projects during the summer:
  • Renovating the 3rd grade classrooms
  • Upgrading the music room
  • Installing new furniture for the 7th and 8th English classroom
  • Creating a new tech/facilities office
  • Installing our new Solar Panels, which will significantly reduce both our carbon footprint and electric costs!
Updating our classrooms with innovative learning furniture is a multi-year project that is only possible thanks to your generosity at the Auction's Raise-the-Paddle. We greatly appreciate your support!
Faculty Spotlight

Congratulations to our Kindergarten Teacher  Emily Travis  and our  Head of School  Dr. Tekakwitha M. Pernambuco-Wise , who were selected to present at the NAIS Annual Conference in March 2017. There were over 850 applications and only 180 proposals were accepted. Their topic is: Finding the Right Match: Attracting and Maintaining Mission-Appropriate Teachers.

Book Club

At our first Book Club gathering on Tuesday, 27 th  September,  4:30-5:30pm , we will discuss Leonard Sax's   Why Gender Matters . We have five extra copies of this book. Please let us know if you would like to receive one of these complimentary ones.

The other Book Club readings for this year are: Richard Weissbourd's   The Parents We Mean To Be  and Sherry Turkle's  Reclaiming Conversation . We look forward to seeing you!
Fundraising Opportunity

Do you shop at New Leaf Market? If you do, you can help raise funds for Sea Crest by purchasing a New Leaf Gift Card and using it each time you shop. The school receives up to 5% when you purchase with the card. You can purchase a card in increments of $50, $100, $250, or $500 by writing a check to Sea Crest for that amount. These cards are also great as birthday gifts and giving out during the holidays for shopping.

We hope you will consider taking this opportunity to help raise funds for our school. Last year we raised over $1600! Purchase your new card or reload existing ones with Cathy at the Front Desk.
