Sea Dogs Announce 2014 Schedule
Home Opener Set for April 10th2014 Schedule

The Portland Sea Dogs have announced their 2014 schedule. The Sea Dogs will open the 2014 season on the road in Reading, Pennsylvania on Thursday, April 3rd at 7:05 PM against the Reading Fightin Phils.  The home opener is set for Thursday, April 10th at 6:00 PM at Hadlock Field against the New Britain Rock Cats (Minnesota Twins).  Individual tickets for the 2014 season will go on sale on Saturday, November 2nd at 9:00 AM at the Hadlock Field Ticket Office. Former Sea Dog Mark Kotsay to Retire
Kotsay
Portland Sea Dogs Hall of Famer Mark Kotsay has announced that he will retire at the end of the season.  Kotsay has had a 17 year Major League career with seven teams including a stint with the Red Sox.  He owns a career .276 average with 1,781 hits, 127 home runs and 720 RBIs.

The outfielder was the 1997 Eastern League Rookie of the Year with the Sea Dogs.  He was inducted into the Sea Dogs Hall of Fame in 2009.  Full Article

 

Trenton Thunder Capture Eastern League Title
Trenton The Trenton Thunder (Yankees) captured their third Eastern League title in the last seven years by sweeping the Harrisburg Senators in the best-of-five Eastern League Championship Series.

Trenton won six straight in the playoffs, sweeping Binghamton to reach the Finals, and became the first Eastern League team since 1991 to go through the playoffs without a loss. More

Bogaerts Named USA Today Sports' Minor League Player of the Year
USA Today Sports' has selected former Sea Dog Xander Bogaerts as the 2013 Minor League Baseball Player of the Year.  Bogaerts hit .311 in 56 games for the Sea Dogs this season. Bogaerts batted a combined .297 with 15 home runs, 67 RBI and a .865 OPS between Double-A Portland and Triple-A Pawtucket, made his major league debut Aug. 20 and got his first big-league hit four days later.  At the age of 20, he is the third youngest player in the Major Leagues. 
 
In 2001, Sea Dogs pitcher Josh Beckett was also tabbed as USA Today Sports' Minor League Player of the Year.
