Dear Fellow Alums and Friends:

We are just about to announce that Seabury will soon move to space in the Lutheran Center here in Chicago. I wanted to let you know this news before it is released publicly and to share with you our excitement about this important step in realizing the vision of SeaburyNEXT.

As chief operating officer, I'm especially pleased that our new classrooms and offices at the Lutheran Center will provide more flexible space and accommodate more fully the wide range of programs, classes, and gatherings that we offer. Our faculty and students now travel to us from across the Midwest and beyond, and being closer to O'Hare will help us attract even more top-quality people to weekend intensives, DMin residence weeks, and other short-course academic programs. I'm especially pleased that renowned liturgist Dent Davidson and eminent teacher and scholar John Dally are helping create the new worship space that will be at our center.

However, even in my excitement about Seabury's flourishing future, I will be sad to leave our old campus in Evanston. We have outgrown it, and its challenges and limitations have frustrated us for years. But it is still the place where I, along with many of you, was formed for ministry. So that we can say goodbye properly, we will hold a leave-taking of the Evanston campus on January 6, followed by an open house at our new location. Please look for an invitation with details in November, and please plan to stay for The Great Awakening, an extraordinary Epiphany event with Bishop Jeff Lee, Chabraja Fellow Diana Butler Bass, and eminent author Brian McLaren. It's just the kind of program that you can expect from SeaburyNEXT, and I hope to see you there.

Faithfully,
