The transition from Maiden and Mother to Queen can be a difficult one, fraught with hard lessons and lots of loss. It takes great determination and courage to confront and embrace the changes brought about by the midlife passage.
It can be really helpful during this confusing time to have the inspiration, advice and encouragement of a counselor/coach/mentor - someone who has been there and done that and is ready to help you do the same.
Queen Mama Donna offers upbeat, practical and ceremonial guidance for individual women and groups who want to enjoy the fruits of an enriching, influential, purposeful, passionate, and powerful maturity.

I read and walked for miles at night along the beach, writing bad blank verse and searching endlessly for someone wonderful who would step out of the darkness and change my life. It never crossed my mind that that person could be me.

The French have a marvelous saying:
"When a woman loses her blood, she gains her voice."
The New York Subways sport this sign:
"If you see something, say something"
Queens speak up and say what needs to be said
in defense of what they know is right and worthy
and in the best interest of women and society as a whole.
A Queen has got to say what She has got to say!
This witch got her point across without a word being said!

Letters In Response to the SEPTEMBER 2016 Issue
Love love love your message on sacred seclusion. Thank you so much Mama Donna. I feel like I've been doing that without the gloriousness of the McDowell but that's inspiring, that's on my bucket list. Thank you again.
- Marjorie, LA
Sacred silence and seclusion. A great piece, thank you, Donna. Synchronous with my own needs and knowings at this time! In gratitude,
- Barbara, OR
I just wanted to let you know that your email really struck a chord in me. As a mother of a young child and feeling at a crossroads, feeling desperate for time to myself to listen to my inner voice, this resonates all too deeply. Thank you so much for sharing this wisdom with the world! Much love,
- Liz, NY
After traveling for weeks, I'm ready to be home. I find myself behind in every area. I'm in the midst of unpacking and my sanctuary is disorganized and cluttered. It will take time to process my adventures and learn from them as I move forward. As I resume my yoga schedule, everything will become more clear. My path will open before me. I need rest and quiet. And contemplation. I feel that I have taken on too much, and my spirit is tired and overwhelmed. Every bone and muscle in my body yearns for rest and renewal. As I mindfully put the pieces of my living space back together, perhaps the puzzle in my brain will fall into place as well. Do I need to change course? Am I at a fork in the road? What does it mean to be 73? Do I want to become more involved in activism and aging? Or do I just need to change out my hat room from summer to fall?
- Judith, CO
This is beautiful Donna. As a healer, my time alone gifts me with what ultimately transforms into what I can offer others. There is a continuous ebb and flow of giving and receiving. And then, we need the space between, where sacred stillness makes way for all that is.
- Sharon, CA
Glad to hear of your wonderful retreat this year. Time alone is indeed refreshing to the soul, and so necessary to a whole life.
- Margi, NY
I love hearing about your writing retreat! So smart. Such precious time, sacred time.
- Camille, CA

Please send your good news, achievements, accomplishments, successes and celebrations so that our international circle of sovereign sisters can send you blessings and accolades.
And we are glad to so. It is a joy and a privilege to share in the fortune of another woman. I recently heard Oprah say the saddest thing ever - "The hardest thing about being successful is having someone to be glad for you."
It takes a centered and confident Queen to break that pattern. There are 60 million thrones out there. One for each of us. There is plenty of purpose, passion and power for us all. May we use it well!
