Seasons Greetings from DGLI
Dear Friends,

We send our wishes for an auspicious holiday season for you and your dear ones. Tis the season for giving and receiving and we thank you humbly, from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity over the past year.

Below you will find some very timely Dharma words of wisdom, along with a recent picture of Dongyu Gatsal Ling's butter lamps lit brightly, sending well-wishes out into the world.

And further down you will see an announcement of our new website coming soon, as well as a link to make a donation to our nuns, before the end of the year.

Blessings and Gratitude,

     The DGLI Board of Directors

At this time of political and social turmoil it is important for us to keep a sense of perspective and not give in to the current climate of rage, paranoia and despair.  As Dharma practitioners we should be aware of such negative reactions as they arise in our mind and not simply indulge them.

Rather we should think constructively what we can do to help in whatever way presents itself.  We each can make our own contribution large or small to bringing some sanity and balance into the situation.  We must be careful not to add to the darkness and psychic pollution being  promoted, however justified we may consider our feelings of helplessness or even fear.

The bodhisattva becomes all the stronger and more courageous in the face of obstacles because enlightened action springs from wise compassion and not from hatred.  Both peacefully smiling Tara and the fierce Mahakala represent possible responses to negative challenges yet both manifestations symbolise our innate fearless compassion.

So, far from despairing, we should take up the challenge to face our outer and inner demons with courage and a resolute determination to transmute darkness into primordial light  by whatever means we can find to actualise this profound transformation.
