Mr. Mulzet also holds a Master's degree in Music Composition from the University of Miami.

Mr. Mulzet has been a respected music educator since 1998 in Florida, California, and North Carolina where he has taught Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, Beginning Band, Percussion Ensemble, Winter guard, orchestra, and marching band. In these positions he has led his groups to superior ratings and to be grand champions.

The Return of the Dancing Heads

After several dance rehearsals, cardboard, scissors and a lot of tape, the band joined Wolfie in bringing back the cardboard cutouts of the men's basketball team from 2012. Band members Jaclyn Lattanza, Courtney Ladowski, Katie Lankowicz, Devin Golder, Emily Scott, Casey Getzler, Kathryn Osenni, and Shane Gallimore all strapped on a head and performed a dance with Wolfie during a time out at the America East Quarterfinal game in the Island Federal Credit Union arena on Wednesday, March 4th. The crowd got a kick out of the moves and the performers had a great time!

Food Drive for the Campus Food Pantry
Food Drive
In December, the Community Outreach Committee teamed up with the Social Committee to organize a food drive for the Stony Brook Food Pantry. Band members brought boxes and cans of non-perishable food items to the band's end-of-the-semester celebration, Festivus, which filled up a large cardboard box. The pantry is located in the ITS Center of Gray College and is open during the hours of 7:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. According to its website, the pantry " provides food items for food-insecure students, staff, and faculty on Stony Brook's campus." Upon the donation, Casey McGloin from the pantry said, "thank you so much and thanks to the marching band for your generosity. It will be greatly appreciated by our pantry guests."
March to College Day 2015

On Saturday, March 28th, The National Society of Collegiate Scholars at Stony Brook University hosted an event called March to College Day 2015. Throughout the day, the Scholars met with students from several different middle schools on Long Island and spoke about all of the great opportunities that college has to offer. The drumline was invited to the event and performed some cadences for all of the students.
Pep Band Day
The pep band welcomed nearly 80 local high school students to the Island Federal Credit Union Arena on Monday, January 19th for the Spirit of Stony Brook's Annual Pep Band Day. The students joined the band in the stands, wearing a gray Athletic Bands t-shirt, and played nearly every tune. They also cheered for the men's basketball team as it took on Albany. Many of the students were very excited to experience being a member of a college pep band at Stony Brook and even expressed that they are looking forward to becoming future Seawolves. One student said, "I had the time of my life at Pep Band Day! It was such an amazing experience and so cool to participate with such an amazing band."
Stony Brook Men's Basketball #AEPlayoffs & CBI
After the men's basketball team defeated Binghamton at home in the America East Quarterfinals 62-57, a 32-piece band traveled to Vermont to support the team in the Semifinals on Sunday, March 8th. The Seawolves defeated the Catamounts 77-79 and earned themselves a spot in the championship game. A 65-piece band traveled to Albany for the #AEPlayoffs Final game on Saturday, March 14th. The Seawolves lost by a point to the Great Danes, but were granted a bid into the College Basketball Invitational (CBI). The team fell to Mercer in the first round, 72-70. The men's overall season record was 23-12.
Stony Brook Women's Basketball AE Tournament

For the first time in Stony Brook Athletic Bands history, the program sent two separate bands to two different places to support the men's and women's basketball teams in the America East Tournament. The first band traveled up to Binghamton on Saturday, March 7th and cheered for the women's team as they took on UMBC in the Quarterfinal round. The team fought hard throughout the entire game but fell two points short in a 49-47 loss. The Seawolves finished the season with an overall 17-14 record.

Pepsi #HALFTIME Commercial
For the second year in a row, a select band traveled to New York City in January and February to be in several online Super Bowl commercials that promoted the Super Bowl halftime show. This year, Pepsi held a contest that awarded winners with a surprise pizza pie and flash mob performance at their door. The Stony Brook Fight Song was featured in the videos.

The classiest, friendliest, and most fun community that I have been a part

of: that is what the Stony Brook Marching Band is to me. I owe the best

parts of myself, in no small way, to my time with this group. My band family

has shown me leadership skills, teamwork, and that following one's passion

and taking on challenges really pays off.

I worked in a research lab for several months after graduation. I also

worked as a photographer, taught a local marching band, and continued to

hone my programming skills because I enjoyed doing so. I recently

launched my first app called LiveBlend. Creating the app was about

following my passion. Its success is opening new possibilities for me. It has

been challenging and exciting at the same time but I have experienced

these feelings before when first becoming a member of the band and later

becoming a drum major. I will soon be working on a team again for a

technology company in New York City. The marching band was the best

training I could have gotten for being part of a team and leading it.

Sometime while busking in New York City streets, traveling to distant

arenas, playing my trombone on television, and leading the band in front of

thousands I became a confident person that is always striving for

excellence and ready to take on the world.
