Interviews at OAR
Nine OAR clients were hired on the spot during a job fair at OAR on August 23rd.   The response from clients and employers has been overwhelmingly positive and this will now be a monthly event for OAR clients.

We could not make this happen without support from local businesses. Thank you Skillforce, Premier Marketing Solutions, and DS Foods for participating.

The next hiring event is scheduled for September 27th.

ChangedCompletely Changed My Perception

Last spring, a woman attending church service heard a presentation from a formerly incarcerated community member and his mentor.  After the presentation, she sought them out during fellowship to ask questions. She learned that the man was an OAR client and the mentor had been assigned by OAR. She had never heard of OAR and began asking questions.

She said "sitting and talking with them not only completely changed my perception of those who are incarcerated but also opened my eyes to the challenges they face and how much OAR can help them."

The woman sitting in church that day is a member of the Palmer Foundation.  Ever since that day in church, she waited for the next grant cycle at the foundation to open.  When it did, she presented OAR as a possible grantee.

OAR has been invited and has applied for funding through the Palmer Foundation.  We are eager to establish a great partnership!
