Greetings!
As many
you have already become aware on Thursday evening the Greater
Golden Hill CDC Board of Directors unexpectedly and abruptly laid
me off due to the financial crisis the organization has been facing
for several years. After investing nearly two years to serve the
greater Golden Hill community, while trying to stabilize an
organization in financial crisis, I feel satisfied with what we
were able to accomplish together for the community.
During those two years we built great partnerships that strengthen
the fabric and culture of the community. We served residents
through efficient and direct services. More importantly we
continuously strived to ensure we were a voice for all who live in
Greater Golden Hill. Since day one when I took over the
organization has been an ongoing concern financially however
through the dedication of the staff and volunteers we made amazing
things happen with the cards we were dealt.
It was
an honor to have served the communities of Greater Golden Hill. I
have had the privilege to work with a dedicated and resourceful
group of co-workers, volunteers, community partners, and board
members. I take with me many great friendships, memories, and a
sense of accomplishment for what we have accomplished together. I
wish the board of the Greater Golden Hill CDC and their staff best
of luck as they work to stabilize the organization and get back to
the work of serving the community.
Being
laid off is never easy, especially during the holidays, and during
this economy. I am reaching out to my network for your guidance
and support. If you know of any open positions that you feel I
would be qualified for I ask that you please forward them to me. In
addition any recommendations that you may have to better position
myself would be gladly accepted.
Throughout my entire professional career I have worked within the
non-profit sector in San Diego County but I am willing to explore
outside the sector. I would like to bring both my experience within
the sector, my passion for education, the sharing of information,
and community organizing to an organization that is looking for a
hard working, out of the box thinker, and dedicated
individual.
I have
gained every day organizational experience that allows me to build
a strategic vision that includes fund development, collaboration
and coalition building, board and volunteer development, public
relations and marketing, supervision, fiscal management,
development, and policy development.
I hold a Masters degree in Nonprofit Management and Leadership from
the University of San Diego that has prepared me with a detailed
knowledge of nonprofit administration. I bring with me a
diverse network that will allow me to effectively and strategically
take the work within any organization directly to those who will
benefit. My connections within San Diego's Latino community have
benefited organizations like the San Diego Padres and the Joan Kroc
Center where I have served in advisory capacity in regards to their
community outreach.
During
my career I have coordinated many special events including the
Cesar E. Chavez community breakfast which host over 2000 people
annually and the Martin Luther King All People's Breakfast. I have
coordinated several successful fundraising events and have trained
others to host their own events.
The links on the left will provide you with more information about
my personal and professional experience, including my most recent
resume. If needed I have additionally materials which I can provide
including references, salary history, and samples of my work. If
you have additional questions feel free to reach me at the contact
information listed in the margin.
