Tots Classes

Select is one of few clubs who offers training to tots. These trainings welcome 2 to 5 years olds to participate in games that engage kids in physical activity and introduce them to the very basics of soccer (like don't use your hands).  These classes are held weekdays and on Saturday mornings.           Select's Featured Coach
       Steve McAuliffe

Steve has been with South Shore Select and the South Shore Sports Center for over 15 years!  Before entering the world of coaching and sports management, Steve played soccer at Merrimack College where he was an NCAA All-American.  He is the only player in Merrimack history to have had his jersey number retired!  He was also inducted into the Northeast 10 Hall of Fame!  Wow!

Before joining our staff full time, Steve worked as a financial consultant at Arthur Andersen for 5 years.  He then decided to leave the finance world to pursue a career in education.  He taught math to high school and middle school aged students for over 5 years before becoming an Assistant Principal at Plymouth South Middle School.  He considers himself lucky to be able to continue educating our youth through sports!

Steve is the General Manager for the South Shore Sports Center and has recently transitioned into the Director role at South Shore Select.  He is committed to ensuring that everyone that comes through our doors knows how important and valued they are to us as an organization.  He is an integral part of our club's success and he lives by our mission statement and values everyday.  It is his lifelong goal to 'pay it forward' and bring more goodness into the world.

Steve's most important accomplishment is his family.  He has three boys, Ryan, Will and Zach and has been married to his beautiful wife, Kelly, for the past 13 years.  Be sure to give Steve a friendly "hello" and high five when you see him around!  And to really get in Steve's good graces, 'pay it forward' and spread happiness and kindness wherever you go.

          Select's Featured Player
            Ella Walsmith

Ella Walsmith is a member of our U13 Pre-Elite Team and is this week's featured player. Ella has amazing work ethic that she brings to practice and games every time she steps onto the field.

In addition to playing soccer, Ella also is a member of a local climbing team and she plays the flute. As a hobby, Ella makes awesome handmade jewelry under the name "Amanda Orange" and has built a fun business around this passion. You can check out Ella's unique jewelry in person at AZ studio in Hingham, where her creations are currently on sale.  You can also check out her jewelry by clicking here!

RX For Young Soccer Players: YOGA

Alison Foley, South Shore Select's Senior Director of Coaching and Boston College Women's Soccer Head Coach, works with youth in the community to promote yoga in young athletes.  Through all of her years of coaching, she couldn't help but notice an increase in non-contact injuries among young girls playing the sport.  Read how she uses yoga to help minimize and prevent injuries.
