Self Help Graphics & Art is once again proud to offer the S.O.Y. Artista Program this summer. This year students will learn the "A Mano" handmade approach to creating various art mediums as well as documenting their art within the creation of their own art book and learning how to translate them to a digital format using the latest techniques on a computer.
S.O.Y. Artista Program (Summer of Youth Artist Program) is a seven-week summer free of charge art-training workshop for local youths ages 14 to 18. S.O.Y. Artista serves high school students with a critical need for summer programming while providing positive and alternative models for creativity in an environment that is nurturing and reflective of their lives and culture. Ceramic Tile Workshop

Self Help Graphics is thrilled to offer a Ceramic Tile Workshop this summer with artist, Wayne Perry. Participants will learn a brief history of ceramic art & techniques and be shown examples of use in public art.
Wayne Perry is an accomplished painter and ceramist having worked on many public art projects with Frank Romero, Peter Schire, Kim Abeles, and Judy Baca.
The kiln that students will be using is very special to Self Help Graphics & Art. In November 2011, Paul Polubinskas, partner to the late Teddy Sandoval, donated this very special kiln to us in honor of Teddy. We are so grateful to have the opportunity to share Teddy's legacy in this way.
DATES: CLASSES BEGIN ON THURSDAY, JUNE 14, 2012
TIME: 6PM to 8PM
COST: $15 per session (8 Total) or pay $80 for the Series and save! Supplies and materials included.

This is an Self Help Graphics and Cal Arts Partnership and consists of a 30-week program for teenagers (ages 15 to 18). Students learn computer design applications, printmaking, T-shirt design, screen-printing and digital video production. The program culminates with an exhibition of the work at Self-Help Graphics & Art, at the California Institute of the Arts, as well as with a screening at REDCAT. All CAP After-School programs are free. No previous experience is required and registration is open to students ages 13 to 19, with the exception of the media arts programs for middle school students (ages 10 to 14). Please register on the first day of class. Parent's/Guardian's signature will be required on the participant's registration form, standard release form, and medical release form. Attendance at all sessions is required.

Bringing the joy of Quilting to the Latina/o community. Attendees will learn and participate in block exchanges, tips & techniques, workshops, charity quilts for foster children, block of the month plus much more! For first time attendees please bring your own working sewing machine and needles and a $30 refundable deposit.
