First Week Thanks!
We have had an incredible first week at Clover Ridge!  I would like to thank the students, staff, families, and volunteers for helping out! This has exceeded our expectations as far as a smooth transition, and are proud of the start we have had.
We have an exceptional community of learners all working toward the same mission: to develop self-directed, responsible, lifelong learners.  Thank you for your partnership in this journey and WELCOME to Clover Ridge!
Curriculum Night
Please join us for Curriculum Night on Thursday, September 14th at the times listed below.  This is a great opportunity to meet the teachers and learn more about the curriculum and delivery model at Clover Ridge Elementary. A brief overview of your child's day will be included.  Parking is availible in the main lot, the bus loop, and behind the school between the ice rink and water tower.  Please be conscious of parking to ensure emergency vehicles have access to the building should they be needed.

Kindergarten and 1st Grade: 5:30-6:00
2nd and 3rd Grade: 6:15-6:45
4th and 5th Grade: 7:00-7:30
Food Service
Kindergarten students receive a free breakfast, as well as those students who qualify for free and reduced lunch. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It fills the fuel tank and gets us ready for what the day may bring. Studies show the benefits for students who eat breakfast include less school days missed, they do better in math and are 20% more likely to graduate high school. Your student's school is giving them the opportunity to get a great breakfast that follows the USDA standards.

Breakfast is served from 7:45 - 8:00 for students in Grades 1-5.  Our Kindergarten student go to breakfast at 8:10.

PTO Meeting
The PTO has invited you to attend their first PTO Meeting of the year on Monday, September 11 at 8:30 in the Staff Lounge.  You will learn about upcoming events and fundraisers as well how you can support this organization throughout the year!  Our PTO has generously supported the students and staff at Clover Ridge and significantly contributes to the overall culture of the building! Join us to learn more!  Childcare is provided.
New Staff/Programming
A.I.M (Academics In Motion)
This is Mr. Jauert's 15th year teaching.  He has spent the previous 14 years teaching first and second grade, 11 of those years here at Clover Ridge. In his classroom Mr. Jauert successfully integrated movement into his instruction and we saw wonderful results both in student engagement and academic achievement. This year he will move into a new role as our A.I.M. (Academics in Motion) teacher.  A.I.M. is a specialist class that students at Clover Ridge will attend twice every six days for 30 minutes.  The goal of A.I.M. is to teach and reinforce reading and math skills through movement based activities.
By incorporating movement and learning we are meeting several of our student's needs.  First of all it gives our students and additional 60 minutes of physical activity!  The health effects of the extra movement alone are incredible.  Providing our students with additional movement time during their day can also increase their ability to focus during seat time at other times during their day. Additionally, there is a great amount of research supporting movement in the areas of memory, brain development and retention.  The brain needs oxygen to function and increased movement leads to increased blood flow which leads to more oxygen.

In the simplest terms this class will take the learning off of worksheets and put it into motion!  We are very excited to provide all students at Clover Ridge with this unique learning opportunity.

General Music

Abby Hoselton grew up on a farm in rural South Dakota with older twin brothers and an older sister. She is in her fourth year of teaching and received her Bachelors Degree in Vocal and Instrumental Music Education from Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD in 2014. She previously taught at Maple Lake Elementary in Maple Lake, MN for three years.
She recently completed Graduate Courses from the University of St. Thomas for her certification in Kodaly Teaching Method.
She lives in Minnetonka with her husband of two years and enjoys staying fit, photography, cooking, baking, visiting family (as much as possible) and anything outside! She is thrilled to be at Clover Ridge to get the music room singing, moving, and playing. Please look for her Classroom Music Blog coming soon.

Intercultural Specialist
My name is Nadaa Hassan and I am the new Intercultural Specialists at Clover Ridge Elementary school. I wanted to introduce myself to everyone. Here is a little bit about me. I was born in Somalia and grew up in Yemen until I was 10 years old. I still have families in both countries. I came to the United State when I was in fifth grade with my three siblings, mother and father. When I first came to the United States of America, I did not know English or the culture of this country. I lived in Minneapolis for one year. After that we moved to Chaska and we have been living in Chaska for 14 years. I have one nephew, he is two years old. I have been a Chaska Hawk since I was in 6th grade. The Chaska school district has a special place in my heart. I went to Minnesota State University, Mankato. I graduated with Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. I am a licensed to teach Kindergarten to sixth grade. I am so happy to be a part of this school district. I am looking forward to working with you all.

Physical Education
We would like to welcome back all CRE students, including our new ones, for another wonderful school year! In physical education we like to focus on skills rather than games. We have new physical education standards and learning targets this year and our curriculum will be based off of the standards and learning targets.
The Twin Cities Medtronic Fun Run is a Family Events that Clover Ridge Elementary has participated in since we opened our doors. It takes place, Saturday, September 30th, 2017 at the State Capitol. This is an optional event where students (& families) have an opportunity to participate in a half mile or mile run. Forms are going home this week. Each person participating MUST have their own form. The cost to participate is $10 per person. Scholarships are available if needed. Students will meet at Clover Ridge Elementary around 7:45 am. All students that are participating will be required to take the bus to the event. Parents are welcomed & encouraged to ride the bus. We will return to Clover Ridge around noon.   We are looking for parent volunteers to help chaperone the event. If you are interested please call or email Wendy Ryun or Jon Nydahl. All forms and checks (made out to TCM) are due back next week, Thursday (September 14th).
We are looking forward to another wonderful year. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us either by phone or email.
