Meet & Greet Party with Loretta Swit!! 

Tickets are on sale now for a special Meet and Greet Party on September 10th with Emmy-award winning actress Loretta Swit and Emmy-award winning filmmaker Jan Thompson.   Tickets to the party are $25 each and may be reserved by calling 406-243-2019.   Proceeds will benefit the  American Defenders of Bataan & Corregidor Memorial Society  and  MMAC .  Join us for this exciting event in the lobby of the Missoula Children's theater. Food and drink are included in the price of the admission.

After the party please join MMAC and our special guests for a free screening of   Never the Same: The Prisoner of War Experience  at 7pm in the Masquer Theatre in the PARTV Center on campus at the University of Montana. Presented in conjunction with our current exhibition  Human Condition: The Art of Ben Steele,  the film will be followed by a Q-and-A session with Swit and Thompson.

September is the last chance to see Hometown: Images of Missoula from the MMAC Permanent Collection and Human Condition: The Art of Ben Steele.  Stop by our galleries in the PARTV Center to see these crowd-pleasing shows. More than 20 years in the making, this innovative documentary depicts the experience of American prisoners of war held by the Japanese during World War II. Conversation after the screening with narrator, award-winning actress Loretta Swit from the MASH television series, and the film's  director, Jan Thompson.

OPENING SEPTEMBER 24: THE INTIMATE DIEBENKORN: WORKS ON PAPER 1949 - 1992
Last Stop on National Tour
 
MMAC is proud to be one of only four venues to host this national traveling exhibition of rare works on paper by Richard Diebenkorn which portray a richly intimate glimpse into the artist's evolution spanning more than 40 years.  

Please join us for the opening of this exhibition that includes 12 never-before seen pieces.  The reception takes place September 24th from 5-7pm in the lobby of the PARTV Center and includes light refreshments, live music and remarks by Andrea Liguori, Managing Director of the Richard Diebenkorn Foundation.  

The exhibition features 52 pieces and was curated by Chester Arnold, chair of the Fine Arts Department of College of Marin, courtesy of the Richard Diebenkorn Foundation.  The show includes pencil and ink drawings on paper, collages of torn paper and watercolors, and is accompanied by two volumes:  Richard Diebenkorn, Abstractions on Paper  and  Richard Diebenkorn: From the Model by Kelly's Cove Press .

Music in the Artist's Studio: Cello Concert with Greg Sauer

Masquer Theater
MMAC partners with the Missoula Symphony Orchestra to present this unique evening of music.  Artist Richard Diebenkorn developed a profound love of classical music and often listened to Mozart, Haydn, and Bach while painting in his studio.  Guest cellist Greg Sauer will perform pieces inspired by the paintings of Diebenkorn.  Tour the galleries following the concert during a special docent-led tour.

FREE DOCENT TOUR
Public Tour Offered Friday, October 2nd at 6pm

Mark your calendar for our October docent-led tour of MMAC's next exhibition The Intimate Diebenkorn: Works on Paper 1949 - 1992.  This tour starts at 6pm and meets in the lobby of PARTV before continuing through the galleries.  Grab a friend and come learn about the life and work of world-renowned artist Richard Diebenkorn.

MMAC Returns to Academic Year Open Hours
School is back in session and that means here at MMAC we are returning to our normal academic hours.  You can visit us Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday from 12 - 3pm and on Thursday and Friday from 12 - 6pm.  As always, private tours are available by calling 243-2019.  See you soon!
