PARENT NIGHT / CURRICULUM NIGHT, TUESDAY (TOMORROW!) AT 6:30
ALL parents, new and seasoned, are requested to attend a brief Parent Meeting at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow at New Hope Fellowship. There are several NEW programs being introduced, so we hope to see every parent! After this meeting, parents will cross the street to the school to visit each of their children's classrooms for orientation. There will be two classroom sessions for all grades (6th-8th grades are combined): 7:05-7:30 & 7:35-8:00. Remember, this evening is for parents only. Thank you for making other arrangements for your child/ren.
FAMILY PHOTOS
If you have not yet turned in a family photo, please bring one to Curriculum Night.
WALK-A-THON
Have you addressed your envelopes? Remember to include your home return address and a first-class stamp on each. If you are sending letters digitally, please use this Walk-a-Thon Letter. Remember to personalize in some way and keep track of how many you send out. Send the completed envelopes and Digital Delivery forms to the classroom teacher by Friday, Sept. 15.
We need help to reach our goal of $20,000!

Can you help with the Walk-a-Thon event?  Be sure to sign up Tuesday evening (Parent/Curriculum Night) in the hallway by the office.  Especially needed are volunteers to deliver food and other items to the park, arriving early to set up. You can also contact Jennifer Simpson with any questions or to sign up:  [email protected].
ROUND-ABOUT
When dropping off or picking up students in the round-about, please remember pull as far forward as possible to stay in your car. The staff member or volunteer will help your child get out of the car. If you wish to assist getting your child/ren out of the vehicle, please park in a designated parking area. (Remember that "reserved" spots are for staff only due to the safety issue of cars backing out.) If grandparents or others are dropping off or picking up, please relay this information to them as well.  Thank you for your cooperation.
SOCCER PRACTICE
Soccer practice will be tonight (Monday) and Thursday this week from 3:30-4:45. Please return all forms with your registration fee of $75.00 to the school office. We are still working on scheduling games!
SUMMER READING CONTEST WINNERS
Congratulations to the winners of our Summer Reading Contest! Elliot Cassano in the 3rd grade read 1,681 minutes and Amanda Klingsheim in the 8th grade read 3,999 minutes! Enjoy your new bikes!
MILK CARDS
The milkman has made his delivery and we now have milk available for the students. Prepaid milk cards are available in the office for purchase. Cards cost $10 and are good for 12 half-pints of milk.
DO YOU WRITE CHECKS TO THE SCHOOL?
Your MCS bookkeeper needs to ask a favor of you. The school uses an electronic scanner to deposit checks, and this scanner is super finicky! If the check is torn at all, bent, or has been stapled, the scanner will not accept the check and/or it will jam the scanner. It will also reject the check if there is writing over any part of the routing/account numbers on the bottom. Thank you for sending your checks in as "clean" condition as possible. It will save a lot of time in requesting replacement checks and reprocessing transactions. Thank you for your help!
THANK YOU
Computer Lab

A big thank you to the school families and supporters that attended the auction last spring. During the Fund-A-Need portion, monies were raised to purchase 20 new computers for our lab. Roy Barron, current head of the Technology Committee, found a great deal and purchased 20 new computers, new monitors, new keyboards, and mice. Roy along with Stashka Lepera, AJ Baxter, and Mark Clear spent a large portion of their Saturday here at MCS installing the new computers. There is more to do, but they got everything ready so that our students could use the lab today. Thank you!

The Mom's in Prayer group met this morning. Thank you for praying for our school, our students and their families, our teachers, and the new school year. Thank you, Laurie Ukrainetz and Kari Adams for meeting today to begin this powerful ministry.

Thank you to a special crew of people who worked hard in August to get our school prepared for the new school year. Volunteers were washing windows, power washing the playground equipment, changing light bulbs, fixing ballasts, cleaning up the staff room, retrieving and placing items up in the attic. Thank you, Gloria Werkhoven, for planning the work day. Thank you to the crew that helped: Dale Coleman, Geoff Dirks, the Lepera family, the Wallace family, Kraig Klingsheim, Grandma Basting, and Sydney and Elaine Obbink.
