Studies show that people who attend Mass are happier and healthier than those who don't. Remind your kids that Sunday Mass is an opportunity to hear the Word of God and encounter Jesus in the holy Eucharist. As a bonus, research suggests that children who go to church every week develop a solid sense of right and wrong, reduce the likelihood of using alcohol, tobacco and drugs, and increase participation at school.

Bring the Gospel Home
September 13/14:
The Exaltation of the Holy Cross
In the Gospel, Jesus tells Nicodemus that the Son of Man must be lifted up. Jesus was lifted up as a sign of healing and promise, a promise that those who believe in Him will have eternal life.
Meditation: Sunday, September 14, is the feast of the Holy Cross. What does the cross remind you of?

Ministry Spotlight: Altar Servers
Do you have a son or daughter who may be interested in being an altar server at St. Anne Church? Boys and girls, 4th grade and above, are eligible for this ministry. The primary role of the altar server is to assist the priest in the celebration of the liturgy during Mass. This is done through specific actions and by setting an example to the congregation by active participation in the liturgy (hymns, responses, etc.), by looking alert, and sitting or standing at the appropriate times.
Altar servers assist, as available, at weekly Masses, weddings, funerals and school liturgies. Training is required prior to serving. If you have a child who is interested in becoming an altar server or if your child is a current altar server and needs refresher training for the new Mass procedures, please mark your calendar for the next Altar Server training session: Saturday, September 20, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Training will be held in the church. You must attend at least one training session before being scheduled.

Mass on the Grass
The Columbus State University (CSU) Cardinal Newman Society is organizing Mass on the Grass on Wednesday, September 17, at 7 p.m., in front of the clock tower on the main campus of CSU.
The Cardinal Newman Society exists to help renew and strengthen Catholic identity in higher education. The CSU chapter carries this out by building relationships, worshipping together and studying God's truth together.
After Mass, the Knights of Columbus Bishop Gross Council 1019 will prepare hamburgers and hotdogs for those in attendance.
For more information, email the CSU Newman Society or follow the group on Facebook.
