Resolving Everyday Conflict - Fall Curriculum for LIFE Groups

This Sunday Pastor Tom and the teaching team will begin a new series geared towards the central theme of reconciliation in the book of Romans. In conjunction with that series, the Peacemaking Team is offering all LIFE Groups a curriculum for further study this fall.  The study will provide our church with a common "language" for addressing conflict that will prove helpful as we navigate issues and decisions individually and as a church.  The study gives practical and biblical tips for conflict resolution.  It addresses various types of conflict and how to resolve them while emphasizing harmony and unity and reflecting Christ to others.

Key Topics:
  • The root cause of conflict
  • When to overlook an offense
  • What makes a good apology
  • What forgiveness really means
  • How to deal with difficult people

This small group study has eight sessions, each including a 30-minute teaching video followed by group discussion time.  The cost of the study is $25 and includes the Participant Guide and The Resolving Everyday Conflict Book.  There is also a Group Leader ' s Guide and an audio book version of the Resolving Everyday Conflict available for an additional cost.  Each Life Group will also be provided a set of the DVDs for the study.  Feel free to contact the pastoral office for financial assistance with study books.

The Peacemaking Team will have a sign up table after the 9:30A service on Sunday, September 18 th where you can find out more.  You may also sign up your Life Group or send your questions to  peacemaking@tccwayland.org .

All Church Prayer Service - Monday, September 19 at 7P.

TCC Photo Directory...

We are producing an updated TCC photo directory.  Our hope is that this will enable the congregation to recognize and get to know each other.  We have the capability to do this in-house and will be able to update it as often as we wish.  The congregation will be able to access it online, but hard copies will also be available.

If you would like your family's photo included, please email a good quality jpeg to Tammy Kim at tammykim@verizon.net by September 30th.  Include the names of all those shown in the photo, as well as other family members not pictured. Regular attendees who are not members are encouraged to participate too!

If you are unable to submit a photo, let us know and we can arrange to have one taken at church. This is also a great time to update your information.  Our database is only as good as the information we input, so if you've moved, changed your email address, want your cell number listed... please let us know!

Help Needed...

Teddy Sayonkon Foundation Scholarship Fund Raising Effort.  Will You Help?
Teddy Sayonkon continues his mission work in Liberia with efforts to raise funds for nine highly motivated children to attend school this year.  With no public school system, these Liberian youngsters will not receive an education unless they receive financial support. Less than $300 for each child will allow them to attend Christian schools this next year. The schools also provide an opportunity to receive Christian training, and the scholarships are a wonderful way to tangibly share the love of Christ through giving.

"In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: It is more blessed to give than to receive." Act 20:35.

Previously, six students received scholarships and are shown in the photos below:

Donations* of any amount can be made through the "Teddy Sayonkon Foundation*" and given to Teddy or Paul Church or mailed to PO Box 215, North Billerica 01862.

*(sorry, contributions are not tax deductible)

Mark: A Call to Discipleship

In the book of Mark we find Jesus as a teacher, miracle worker, Son of God and Son of Man, and the Servant of all. Against the backdrop of Jesus' submission to God as He faced death on a cross, Jesus' disciples are encouraged to be faithful to Him even as they suffer. Mark's Gospel is a call to discipleship-a call to follow the one true God as revealed in the Savior of the world, Jesus Christ.

Join us on this exciting journey through the Gospel of Mark.

Volunteer Opportunities

TCC runs on volunteers! Please visit the TCC "How to Serve" webpage at http://www.tccwayland.org/serve.php for more information.   Here are a few current opportunities:

Additional Ushers Still Needed...
Our mission:   To welcome every visitor and member to the house of God!

What is needed : Ushers are absolutely critical in helping newcomers form their first impression of TCC. You help set the tone for the worship experience to come. You are representatives of God's kingdom.  You're not just opening doors, providing information, handing out bulletins or collecting the offering, you are making people feel welcome!

Could you help ONE  Sunday morning a month?  Please contact Debbie Wilson at office@tccwayland.org or 508-358-7717.

Volunteer Offering Counters Needed ...
Are you accurate and reliable?  Volunteers count the weekly offering (mostly checks for deposit) each Sunday, and we are in need of new helpers.  Offering counters work in pairs.  Contact Aimee Mury at Contributions@tccwayland.org or 508- 358-7717, x303 if this might be a way you could help us.  Training provided!

Coffee Hour needs YOU!
If you enjoy having a cup of coffee while chatting with others between Sunday services, please sign-up (alone or with your Small Group) to host a coffee hour!   You don't even have to provide snacks - just make, set up and then clean up the coffee and tea ! ( Easy instructions provided - click here to see what is involved!)
Participation gives you and your group an opportunity to serve the Lord and is greatly appreciated by your fellow members.
Please sign up at the Connection Hub this Sunday or contact Robin Spinale, our new Coffee Hour Coordinator at jspinale@hotmail.com!

Missions Committee
Do you have a heart for missions? Would you consider serving on the Missions Committee?  The committee meets monthly to distribute church funds to missionaries and mission organizations that are involved with college, regional and foreign ministries. We address short term missions and one-time requests as well. The committee members correspond with these missionaries in the field to follow their progress, make sure their needs are met and their prayer requests addressed.  It is the committee's responsibility to keep the congregation updated on missionaries we support; to report on progress, activities, needs, and prayer requests.
If you would like to volunteer or find out more information, please contact Carolyn Lippmann, Committee Chairperson, or David Jenkins, committee member, at cllippmann@verizon.net or 508-358-5406 and dhjenk@gmail.com or 508-380-4015.

Thanks for reading and hope to see you this weekend.
Sincerely,

Debora Wilson
