On August 24th, the Gulf Branch Nature Center hosted "Bat Fest Arlington." With the goal of protecting and conserving bats in our region, the event featured a live bat show presented by Leslie Sturges, Director of "Save Lucy, A Little Brown Bat", games, crafts and a habitat walk through the woods. This very popular annual event was supported by a grant from the Foundation's Arlington Education Fund.
This fund was started in 1995 by a small group of Arlingtonians who saw that even small grants can make a big difference for an educator with a creative idea. Now in its nineteenth year, the Arlington Education Fund has funded 438 projects for a total of almost $400,000 - all made possible through generous donations from across our community.
To celebrate the start of the new school year and the dedication of the Arlington Education Fund, an anonymous donor has stepped up with a wonderful gift: All donations made to the Arlington Education Fund in 2013 will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to $5,000.
To make your tax-deductible gift Click Here and designate your gift to the "Education Fund", or call the foundation at 703-243-4785.
