Welcome!

It's the official beginning of Fall during September, so let's celebrate the coming of Autumn with a toast of your favorite Martin Ulisse wine!

If you haven't already, we invite you to check out our new website - www.martinulisse.com!
Mocavero Chardonnay

Chardonnay

Mocavero Chardonnay is similar in flavor profile to a Vino Verde or Albarino. A light body complimented by balanced acidity and fruit this wine is fresh and crisp. Unlike a typical chardonnay, the flavors are subdued by bright acidity, green apple and citrus allowing this wine to be very refreshing. The clean finish makes it a great alternative when looking for a white wine. Goes well with light starters, salads, seafood and fish, excellent as an aperitif.

Chilled Squash Soup

Chilled Squash Soup
While it might not seem like it if you work outdoors, we have been blessed with a relatively mild summer here in Texas, at least in terms of growing vegetables. There is still a lot of local squash available, and it
is delicious. For these the last days of summer, and actually anytime, I love chilled soups.

Here is a quick and easy recipe for a chilled squash soup. It only has 6 ingredients which allows the beautiful flavor of
the squash to be the star of the show. I have used heavy cream here but if you wanted to make a version with less fat, feel free to substitute yogurt for the cream. This soup goes nicely with a glass of Mocavero Chardonnay and good friends around the pool or on the patio.

Martin Ulisse Montepulciano

Montepulciano

Similar to a pinot noir, this Southern Italian beauty is fermented in 100% stainless steel for a medium body that drinks easily with a pleasant finish. Mild plum, spice, and dark cherries finish with soft tannins and white pepper. Exceptionally smooth across the palate, this off-dry wine is fruity yet not sweet and is a great happy hour or patio wine that is also incredibly versatile with food.

Pasta Puttanesca

Pasta Puttanesca
Pasta puttanesca is a quick and easy pasta dish that originated in Naples. The name itself means in the style of a woman of the evening. There are numerous variations as to why and how the dish got its name, but suffice it to say that it is delicious and I am sure you will enjoy it if you have never tried it, and if you have, I imagine you will be amazed at how easy it is to prepare. The recipe is for pasta and the sauce, but feel free to add a grilled chicken breast or a piece of fish to enhance the dish. Pair this delightful dish with a glass of montepulciano for a real treat. I recommend you try it with the anchovies, but if you really don't like them, feel free to leave them out.

Besides churches and monasteries, two other great medieval institutions derived much of their income from wine: hospitals and universities. The most famous medieval wine-endowed hospital (now a museum) is the beautiful Htel-Dieu in Beaune, France.
